Job description

Matrix designs, manufactures, and sells innovative technological products that help keep people safe. Originally focused on the underground coal mining industry, Matrix has expanded into new industrial markets in the United States and globally.
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) Coordinator to join our engineering team. The PLM Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of product data throughout the product lifecycle. This position involves working closely with design engineers, manufacturing teams, procurement, and supply chain departments to create, maintain, and manage BOMs for various products and projects. As a PLM Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining structured BOMs that reflect the design intent and manufacturing requirements. You will ensure that all components, subassemblies, and materials are correctly documented and updated in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system and align with the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering or manufacturing, excellent attention to detail, and proficiency in PLM and ERP systems. You should be comfortable interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and change orders, and be able to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams. This position works in a team environment at our home office in Newburgh, IN. This is not a remote position.
This position reports to the Director of Engineering.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with mechanical engineering staff to release new products and product revisions in the PLM system.
  • Work with engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams to maintain accurate PLM system data.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to develop BOM structures
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date product documentation, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and specifications within the PLM system.
  • Manage engineering change orders (ECOs) through the PLM release process
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and industry regulations
  • Support new product introductions by developing initial parts and BOMs within the PLM system
  • Regularly update and verify that all components, subassemblies, and materials are correctly documented in both PLM and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Maintain documentation and version control for all BOMs
  • Assist in resolving BOM-related issues during production
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to BOM processes
  • Train team members on BOM management best practices

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience in an Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in BOM or PLM management or related role
  • Proficiency in PLM and ERP systems, preferably Arena and Oracle
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and documentation
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with change management processes
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials

Working Conditions
  • Daily Job duties will consist of office, lab, and desk work with occasional field testing required.
  • Candidates may be required to work underground, but on an infrequent basis.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to work near large moving machinery, but on an infrequent basis.
  • Customer operations may contain airborne particles and allergens.
  • Matrix employees may be furnished and required to wear safety gear such as hard hats, steel toe shoes, reflective clothing, earplugs, and safety glasses as needed.
