We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Director of Recreation to lead, develop, and oversee a dynamic recreation and activities program that promotes resident engagement, well-being, and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
As the Director of Recreation, you will:
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate recreation and activities staff.
  • Develop and implement engaging activity programs that meet the needs and interests of residents.
  • Lead regular staff meetings to plan, conduct, and evaluate activities and special events.
  • Establish and maintain a successful volunteer program, including recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Serve as a community liaison to build partnerships and utilize community resources that enhance programming.
  • Ensure compliance with all required training and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain organized, clean, and safe activity spaces and common areas.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives and departmental evaluations.
  • Manage departmental records, projects, schedules, budgets, and operational processes effectively.
  • Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and organizational events.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess one of the following:
  • Bachelor's degree and qualification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or Activities Professional; or
  • Associate degree and qualification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or Activities Professional through applicable experience, certification, approved training, or current licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT) or Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA).

  • Experience leading recreation, therapeutic recreation, activities, or resident engagement programs.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with residents, families, staff, volunteers, and community partners.

  • Ability to make sound decisions and work independently.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
