Position Summary: The Area Director provides leadership and direction to the General Managers assigned within their specific area. This position will continue the duties and responsibilities of the General Manager, ensuring the requirements are met for their assigned property.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: All duties and responsibilities of this position are to be performed with exceptional caring and genuine guest service always upholding the Oxford Collection of hotels standards and culture.

Management and Administration (30%):

  • Provide direct operations support to specific hotels
  • Assists specific hotels to achieve goals and objectives to include operational support, monitoring profitability, guest satisfaction and employee satisfaction
  • Responsible for directing management in accordance with the policies and practices of the company
  • Responsibilities include the development and implementation of strategies for meeting goals in the areas of revenue generation, market share performance, guest satisfaction, and net operating income
  • Ensures that general managers have clear and concise goals
  • Provides coaching and mentoring to assigned managers
  • Audits hotels for compliance through trip checks
  • Reviews all employee relations issues that are identified by General Manager
  • Make certain that all company standards and controls are being implemented and followed

Operations (25%):

  • The Area Director is responsible for the daily operations of the hotel overall ensuring the property meets sanitation and cleanliness standards
  • Oversee the control of operating costs
  • Communicate with guests and provide exceptional services and ensure resolutions are provided
  • Communicate and investigates all employee and guest safety and other incidents
  • Completes monthly and quarterly budget reviews
  • Reviews invoice details, collections and reconciliations
  • Audits and corrects any discrepancies within the reservation system
  • Participates and leads in revenue management process
  • Facilitates effective communication both upstream and downstream between the property's general manager and hotel staff
  • Reviews and completes long and short-term goals of the hotel
  • Manages cost control and expenditures
  • Regularly inspects property for cleanliness and overall presentation of the hotel
  • Continuous communication with home office
  • The Area Director may need to provide coverage for a property if a Task Force Manager is unavailable

Employee Development (20%):

  • Completes and assigns the following processes to department managers: recruiting, hiring, training and employee development
  • Communicate and investigate any issues with regards to employee relations; simultaneously communicating to home office
  • Oversees the Safety Program and assists with RTW program
  • If needed, review the schedule and complete payroll

Customer Relations (20%):

  • Communicates clearly, effectively and timely with guests in person and through other means of communication
  • Continuously reviews staff overall training and customer service

Other (5%):

  • Adhere to attendance policies and maintain regular availability
  • May Participate in hotel drivers program
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Two or four year college degree preferred

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit
  • Must have valid drivers license and meet company driving standards
  • Must have strong computer skills; Microsoft products, RoomKey
  • Must have excellent organization and time management skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Long hours sometimes required, including nights, evenings and weekends
  • Occasional overnight travel is required
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently, and squeezing & overhead reaching occasionally:
  • Must be able to work indoors or outside;
  • Must be able to stand on feet throughout the day;
  • Must be able to frequently lift up to 20 lbs and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs with assistance;
  • Must be able to bend, squat crawl, kneel, push, pull, walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis;
  • While primarily an indoor job, must be able to walk outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat);
  • Must be able to climb stairs occasionally, both indoors and outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat)
