Director – Risk Management | Memorial Medical Center | Las Cruces, NM | Senior Leadership | Healthcare

Lead the risk management and compliance operations for Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces. This newly opened senior-level position reports directly to the CEO and plays a key role in coordinating multiple facets of the overall risk management process. Manage risk identification, avoidance, and mitigation while serving as the Compliance and Ethics Officer for the facility.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

• Title: Director – Risk Management

• Level: Senior

• Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

• Status: Newly opened position

• Full-time exempt position

• In-person required (Las Cruces, NM office)

• No travel required

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordinate multiple facets of overall risk management process

• Manage risk identification, avoidance, and mitigation strategies

• Collaborate with all levels of leadership, providers, front-line staff, and stakeholders

• Manage evolving needs of active litigation cases:

- Conduct investigations and interviews

- Coordinate depositions

- Gather legal hold records

- Support legal counsel as needed

• Train leaders, providers, and hospital staff on risk management program

• Oversee incident reporting and tracking systems

• Manage overall risk management program for hospital and affiliated clinics

• Serve as Compliance and Ethics Officer for the facility

• Facilitate relationships with providers and regulatory agencies

• Develop and implement process improvements

REQUIREMENTS:

MUST-HAVES:

• Current or eligible New Mexico RN license (required)

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (required)

• Five years healthcare experience

• At least three years experience in a leadership role (OR equivalent acute healthcare risk management experience)

• Experience working in for-profit hospital (strongly preferred)

• Strong human relations and interpersonal skills

• DEA license eligibility

NICE-TO-HAVES:

• Advanced degree: MSN, Healthcare Administration, or MBA

• Experience facilitating relationships with providers

• Ethics & Compliance experience

• Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and process improvement experience

• Experience with investigations and legal processes

• Experience interacting with regulatory agencies (DEA, Board of Pharmacy, CMS)
