This role is responsible for translating enterprise and Plasma business-unit strategy into a multi-year category roadmap that secures supply continuity, drives total-cost-of-ownership improvement, manages supplier and third-party risk, and enables innovation across the equipment, consumables, technology, facilities, and professional-services spend that underpins plasma collection and operations.

The role leads a team of Procurement Managers, and Buyers / Purchasing Managers dedicated to Plasma, and partners closely with the Chief Procurement Officer, Plasma business-unit leaders (Operations, Quality, Regulatory, Finance), and key external suppliers to ensure Procurement is positioned as a value-generating function. This position demands a strategic and commercial mindset, strong people leadership, sound judgment in a highly regulated operating environment, and the ability to build credibility quickly with senior stakeholders. This role is a key member of the Plasma Operational Leadership team and reports to the Chief Procurement Officer.

Reports To: Chief Procurement Officer

Direct Reports: Procurement Managers in the US and EMEA; Plasma Buyers/Purchasing Managers

Key Stakeholders: Plasma business-unit executive leadership (Operations, Quality, Regulatory, Finance); enterprise Procurement leadership; strategic suppliers

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

1. Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Own succession planning, capability building, and performance management for the Plasma procurement team, embedding a high-performance, values-led culture.

  • Set clear individual and team objectives aligned to category strategy and enterprise procurement goals.

2. Senior Stakeholder Management

  • Anticipate business needs and translate them into a forward-looking procurement agenda that supports both short-term operational continuity and long-term strategic goals.

  • Serve as escalation point for supplier or category issues that carry material business, quality, or reputational risk, looping in the Procurement Leadership Team on matters of enterprise-level significance.

3. Category Strategy & Business Planning

  • Own the multi-year Plasma category strategy across direct and indirect spend (collection equipment, consumables, facilities, logistics, technology, and professional services), and associated Supply Chain strategies, integrating procurement perspectives into Plasma's budgeting, forecasting, and strategic prioritization.

  • Set and deliver annual and long-range savings, total-cost-of-ownership, and value-creation targets for the category, tracked against enterprise procurement KPIs.

  • Ensure category strategies remain responsive to market dynamics, network growth (new center openings, expansions), and evolving regulatory requirements.

4. Supplier Strategy, Supplier Management, Risk & Resilience

  • Provide oversight and final accountability for supplier strategy across the Plasma category, ensuring alignment with business needs, risk appetite, and compliance requirements (including cGMP/FDA-relevant considerations for collection consumables and equipment).

  • Partner with Quality, Regulatory, and Risk/Compliance teams to assess supplier risk profiles, maintain business-continuity plans for critical suppliers, and lead resolution of significant supply disruptions.

  • Own strategic supplier relationships, balancing cost, resilience, ethical sourcing, and long-term value creation.

  • Collaborate with critical suppliers to develop and implement Supply Chain and Logistics strategies to ensure supply and business continuity.

5. Value Creation & Innovation

  • Champion procurement-led innovation across the Plasma category — identifying opportunities in process optimization, supplier collaboration, automation, and digital enablement (e.g., e-procurement, spend analytics).

  • Benchmark category performance against industry best practice and drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance speed, quality, and cost efficiency.

  • Sponsor cross-functional transformation projects that materially improve Plasma's procurement maturity.

6. Governance, Performance Reporting & Compliance

  • Own performance tracking and executive reporting of category KPIs, savings delivery, and risk posture to the CPO and Plasma leadership team.

  • Ensure category strategies and sourcing activity comply with company policy, ethical sourcing standards, and relevant regulatory frameworks.

  • Represent Plasma Procurement in enterprise-wide Procurement governance forums and audits.
