Job description


The Manager, Merchandising / Product Assortment is responsible for developing and executing assortment strategies that maximize product coverage, customer relevance, supplier alignment, and digital discoverability across assigned product categories. This role owns product lifecycle management, assortment optimization, product taxonomy attributes, product data requirements, search enablement, and digital product presentation strategies.
Working within the Master Data Operations & Governance organization, the position serves as a strategic bridge between Category Management, Supplier Management, Marketing, eCommerce, Pricing, Inventory, and Supply Chain teams to ensure products are accurately represented, easily discoverable, and positioned to support business growth and customer satisfaction. The role enables merchandising success through assortment strategy, product organization, search optimization, and customer-centric product experiences.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute assortment strategies for assigned product categories to drive growth, customer relevance, and profitability.
  • Manage the full product lifecycle, including product introduction, expansion, optimization, rationalization, and retirement
  • Define product taxonomy classification, facet, attribute, and content requirements that support customer decision-making and digital discoverability.
  • Identify assortment gaps, market opportunities, and emerging industry trends through customer, supplier, competitive, and market analysis.
  • Partner with Master Data Management teams to improve product data quality, governance, completeness, and scalability
  • Enable superior digital customer experiences by optimizing product findability through search, navigation, filtering, substitution, and cross-reference strategies
  • Analyze assortment performance, customer behavior, sales, and profitability metrics to develop actionable recommendations and business cases.
  • Collaborate with Category Management, Supplier Management, Marketing, Pricing, Inventory, Supply Chain, and Digital Commerce teams to align assortment priorities and business objectives
  • Build and maintain strategic supplier and stakeholder relationships to support assortment growth and innovation initiatives.
  • Lead and influence cross-functional initiatives that improve assortment effectiveness, product experience, and business performance

Qualifications
  • At least seven (7) years of experience in digital/omnichannel merchandising with direct responsibility for channel execution, sales, and ROI performance.
  • At least five (5) years of experience managing an online catalog product assortment, and working product assortments through the product lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated ability in implementing research findings into actionable and profitable programs that help drive market differentiation.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in Supply Chain, Category Management, Marketing, Pricing, and eCommerce/Omnichannel.
  • Ability to multi-task and reprioritize in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience with sales reporting, profitability reporting, and financial analysis.
  • Strong problem solving, influencing, and decision-making skills.
  • Sales mentality and a proactive thinker who can translate corporate product management strategy into digital customer experiences.
