Job Overview

The Director of Engineering is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the hotel's maintenance operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, internal audits, and Crescent standards. This role focuses on preventative maintenance, team development, vendor management, and building infrastructure upkeep, ensuring the long-term efficiency and safety of the property. The Director will lead a team of engineers and collaborate with local vendors and contractors to maintain the hotel at an optimal level.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Oversee and implement a robust Preventative Maintenance program to ensure optimal operation of the hotel's HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.

  • Lead, train, and manage the engineering team, providing clear expectations and performance evaluations.

  • Ensure compliance with internal audit requirements and regulatory standards, including local, state, and national building codes.

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical systems to ensure the hotel's infrastructure remains fully operational.

  • Source, review, and approve vendor contracts and service agreements, ensuring cost-effective solutions for maintenance and capital projects.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local vendors and contractors, obtaining competitive quotes for projects and ongoing maintenance needs.

  • Maintain all aspects of the hotel's physical condition, including FF&E, meeting spaces, and exterior curb appeal.

  • Monitor energy and utility management programs to optimize operational efficiency.

  • Ensure timely response to guest and internal service requests to maintain high levels of satisfaction.

  • Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget, including forecasting capital expenditures and cost-saving initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with Crescent Hotels & Resorts’ engineering standards and industry best practices.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • 4+ years of experience as a Director of Engineering, preferably in a hotel setting.

  • Strong knowledge of Preventative Maintenance programs and building infrastructure management.

  • Prior experience managing vendor relationships and sourcing competitive project bids.

  • Experience ensuring compliance with internal audit requirements and safety regulations.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree is a plus but not required.

  • Valid Driver’s License required.

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
