Job Title: Director of Preconstruction โ€“ Concrete Division

Reports To: Chief Operations Officer (COO) or Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Job Summary:

The Director of Preconstruction leads all preconstruction activities, including estimating, budgeting, scheduling, and planning for concrete and related construction projects. This executive role ensures accurate, profitable, and timely project planning while aligning with company strategy, client expectations, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all preconstruction processes, including takeoffs, cost estimating, budgeting, and scheduling for concrete projects.
  • Lead and mentor the preconstruction team, including estimators, engineers, and project managers.
  • Collaborate with business development and project executives to review project scope, feasibility, and risk.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Ensure estimates are accurate, competitive, and aligned with company profitability goals.
  • Implement best practices, tools, and technologies for estimating, scheduling, and project planning.
  • Review and approve project bids, proposals, and preconstruction reports.
  • Monitor market trends, materials pricing, and labor conditions to anticipate project costs.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to ensure seamless transition from preconstruction to construction.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (Masterโ€™s preferred).
  • 10+ years in preconstruction or construction management, with significant experience in concrete projects (including tilt, mid-rise, structural/elevated, etc).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
