Position Summary
The FAME Center of Excellence Director provides strategic leadership, administration, and oversight for the College's Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (FAME) Center of Excellence and related advanced manufacturing workforce development initiatives. The Director is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs that support the preparation of highly skilled manufacturing professionals through integrated academic instruction, work-based learning, industry partnerships, and innovative workforce training solutions.
This position is posted in compliance with Alabama Code§ 16-22-15 . It is the intent to place a current employee in this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Complies with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, theAlabama Community College System and Central Alabama Community College.
  1. Provides leadership for Center initiatives to ensure alignment with the College's mission, workforce development goals, and regional industry priorities.
  2. Directs the FAME (Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education) Program to develop a pipeline of highly skilled workers for modern manufacturing through integrated classroom instruction and hands-on industry training.
  3. Leads coordination efforts with Haas Automation for factory outlet events, demo days, industry visits, and Project MFG initiatives, including regional and national events in Welding, Additive, and Advanced Manufacturing.
  4. Collaborates with business and industry partners to identify workforce gaps and design responsive training, including short-term credentials, non-credit programs, and customized industry solutions.
  5. Leads efforts to establish and sustain innovation hubs, labs, and experiential learning spaces that promote industry engagement and technology adoption.
  6. Fosters partnerships with employers, economic development agencies, K-12 systems, and four-year institutions to support innovative training and employment pipelines.
  7. Responsible for all equipment management including but not limited to purchasing, maintenance, and layout of equipment and tools to ensure proper and safe use.
  8. Directs and manages operations of the advanced manufacturing labs and lab technician teams.
  9. Identifies external funding opportunities, including grants, contracts, and public/private partnerships that enhance program reach and sustainability.
  10. Provides supervision for faculty and staff assigned to the Center, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  11. Collaborates with instructional leadership to integrate new technologies and workforce competencies into academic programs.
  12. Develops and manages budgets, resources, and operational processes to ensure fiscal responsibility and program sustainability.
  13. Serves as a liaison to internal and external stakeholders, promoting the Center's initiatives and outcomes.
  14. Collects and analyzes data to measure program effectiveness and student outcomes; prepares regular reports for college leadership and funding agencies.
  15. Represents the College and Center at local, regional, and state workforce and industry meetings, promoting the institution as a leader in workforce technology innovation.
  16. Establishes and leads the Career Technology Advisory Committee with industry professionals to determine program needs.
  17. Maintains current knowledge of workforce trends, emerging technologies, and labor market dynamics to guide program development and investment.
  18. Assists the Dean with writing bids, bid compliance, and negotiation with vendors.
  19. Enters requisitions and tracking of purchases for the Center.
  20. Adheres to local, state and federal policies andprocedures.
  21. Performs other duties asassigned.

Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Education, Technology, or related field from a regionally accredited institution is required; Master's degree preferred.
  2. Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in workforce or technical education, industry training, ore related leadership is required.
  3. Demonstrated experience collaborating with business and industry partners is required.
  4. Deep understanding of workforce education, technology integration, and economic development strategies is required.
  5. Demonstrated ability to build and sustain strong partnerships across education, business, and community sectors is required.
  6. Experienced in strategic planning, project management, and grant or contract administration is required.
  7. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills is required.
  8. Ability to interpret labor market data and translate findings into actionable program initiatives is required.
  9. Excellent organizational and presentation skills are required.
  10. Ability to travel to and from all campus locations and attend activities and events in designatedareas as assigned isrequired.
  11. Ability to work in a high demand collaborative team work area, maintain a positive attitude, communicate effectively, and manage multiple priorities is required.

The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions.
