POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Volunteers at Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida (BGCCF) leads the organization’s volunteer engagement strategy through the recruitment, training, development, and retention of volunteers while driving revenue-generating opportunities that support the organization’s mission and sustainability.
This role develops and implements innovative volunteer and community engagement programs that expand BGCCF’s volunteer network, strengthen corporate and community partnerships, and increase philanthropic support through volunteerism, sponsorships, workplace giving, and event participation. The Director of Volunteers serves as a key connector between volunteer engagement and fundraising initiatives, ensuring volunteers are meaningfully engaged while contributing to organizational growth and impact.
The position also oversees volunteer operations, coordinates volunteer participation for special events and fundraising campaigns, and collaborates with internal teams to maximize community engagement and revenue opportunities that enrich the lives of the youth served by BGCCF.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Recruitment, Engagement & Retention
- Develop and execute strategic volunteer recruitment plans to attract individual, corporate, civic, and community volunteers.
- Create and implement volunteer engagement initiatives that increase retention, participation, and long-term support for BGCCF.
- Promote volunteer opportunities through community outreach, networking, partnerships, and digital engagement strategies.
- Develop recognition and stewardship programs that cultivate volunteers into donors, advocates, and ambassadors for BGCCF.
Revenue Generation & Fundraising Support
- Partner with Advancement leadership to identify and cultivate revenue-generating volunteer opportunities, sponsorships, and community partnerships.
- Support fundraising campaigns, special events, and donor engagement activities through volunteer mobilization and community outreach.
- Develop and manage corporate volunteer engagement programs that lead to sponsorships, employee giving, and in-kind contributions.
- Identify opportunities to convert volunteer relationships into philanthropic support and long-term organizational partnerships.
- Track and report volunteer impact metrics, including volunteer hours, engagement outcomes, and revenue-related contributions.
Volunteer Management & Operations
- Oversee volunteer onboarding, orientation, training, scheduling, and placement processes.
- Ensure volunteers complete all required screenings, documentation, and compliance requirements.
- Maintain accurate volunteer records and reporting using volunteer management systems and databases.
- Monitor volunteer performance and provide guidance, coaching, and conflict resolution as needed.
- Develop policies and procedures that ensure a positive, safe, and mission-aligned volunteer experience.
Program Development & Strategic Planning
- Design and implement volunteer initiatives aligned with BGCCF’s strategic priorities and advancement goals.
- Evaluate volunteer programs and recommend improvements to increase operational efficiency, engagement, and community impact.
- Establish annual goals, performance metrics, and growth strategies related to volunteer engagement and revenue generation.
- Collaborate across departments to identify opportunities for volunteer integration and support.
Community Partnerships & Outreach
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with corporations, schools, civic organizations, and community groups.
- Represent BGCCF at community events, networking opportunities, and partnership meetings.
- Foster collaborative partnerships that increase organizational visibility, volunteer engagement, and financial support.
Event Coordination
- Coordinate volunteer staffing and logistics for fundraising events, campaigns, and community initiatives.
- Support planning and execution of organization-wide events involving volunteers and sponsors.
- Ensure volunteers are effectively trained and supported during events and activities.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Prepare reports, presentations, and engagement summaries for leadership and stakeholders.
- Manage volunteer communications, calendars, and scheduling systems.
- Assist with departmental initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (Knowledge, Education, Experience & Skills)
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, business administration, marketing, public relations, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in volunteer management, fundraising, nonprofit development, community engagement, or related experience.
- Demonstrated success in building partnerships and supporting revenue-generating initiatives.
- Experience coordinating volunteers, events, and community engagement programs.
- Strong project management, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM/database systems, and volunteer management platforms.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, and mentor staff, volunteers, and interns who work with youth.
Relationships
- Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with club staff, support office personnel, volunteers, club members, and supervisors to exchange information, address issues, and provide or clarify guidelines and instructions.
- External: Cultivates long-term relationships with community partners, schools, and other organizations to create a sustainable pipeline of volunteers and group volunteer partners. Engages with these external groups to build collaborative efforts and ensure a steady flow of volunteer support for Club activities and programs. Maintain oral, written, and personal contact with external organizations and community groups, serving as a resource for volunteer recruitment and selection.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- The position requires working in both indoor and outdoor environments of an office or club setting, which may involve exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and policy manuals.
- Required to operate a motor vehicle.
- Work in environments frequented by children and families, requiring adherence to safety and conduct standards that ensure a child-friendly and family-oriented atmosphere.
- Must be adaptable to a dynamic work schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends to support club activities and events.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Physically capable of performing activities and duties on-site, including lifting up to 25 pounds, standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods, bending, and reaching.

- Mental resilience and the ability to stay focused and effective in a busy, sometimes noisy environment.

- Candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.
