Summary

Reporting to the President, you will leverage market opportunities, strategic business contacts, and department efficiencies to maximize growth potential. You will develop and execute tailored business development strategies, ensuring alignment with overall corporate objectives while driving innovation and competitive advantage for Tucson and Phoenix, Arizona.

Key Accountabilities
  • Lead business development to profitably; expand and grow project/business portfolio in all assigned markets (built to rent/multi‑family, commercial, health care, light industrial).
  • Participate on the strategic team and aid in creating, communicating and executing the company strategic plan.
  • Create department strategies and objectives aligned to the Company strategy and empower team to execute successfully.
  • Maintain awareness of current marketplace and trends to gain and maintain our competitive advantage and develop effective bid strategies.
  • Responsible for leading proposal initiatives and collaborating with the team on marking initiatives.
  • Build, foster and maintain excellent relationships with all internal and external stakeholders, including the general community.
  • Represent the company at external events to aid in Brand awareness and build a strategic network.
  • Partner and communicate with Operations, Estimating, and Project teams to ensure customer success and assist with lead generation.
  • Involvement in preconstruction work to ensure clients and projects align with desired values and business model/strategy.
  • Manage all department functions including operating budget and workforce planning.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and systems to improve efficiencies within the department.
  • Cascade company goals, company updates and align team goals to achieve a successful outcome.
  • Manage the proposal process: Developing win strategy, leading proposal kickoff meetings, tailoring proposal content to each pursuit, setting timelines for proposal development, review, and submission.
  • Improve quality of proposals: seeking continual improvement in our look, writing tone, win themes and strategy development.
  • Build collaborative relationships between our leadership team, internal business groups and external stakeholders.
  • Support business development efforts through researching prospective clients and sharing relevant industry news/trends.
  • Model the Company Values.
Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in business, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience working in business development capacity within a general contractor, construction, engineering, or architectural services industry preferred with a proposal driven role in another industry considered.
  • Strong technical and business writing skills.
  • Exceptional organization, analytical, and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Understanding of strategic proposal development processes.
  • Ability to manage, balance & support multiple projects, project teams and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Team player with the ability to motivate others and stimulate creativity.
  • Excellent computer skills in MS Office and Adobe InDesign.
