Medical Director of Cardiac Surgery – University Hospital

RWJBarnabas Health, the largest health care provider in N.J., is looking for a highly skilled and experienced leader to serve as the Medical Director of Cardiac Surgery at University Hospital in Newark. This role provides critical administrative and clinical leadership, overseeing program quality, staff development, and multidisciplinary collaboration to ensure the delivery of safe, evidence-based patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive care across the full spectrum of adult cardiac surgery, including preoperative evaluation, operative management, and postoperative critical care, utilizing advanced techniques such as minimally invasive, endovascular, and mechanical circulatory support.
  • Lead quality assurance activities, monitor clinical outcomes using STS data, and serve as a vital liaison between surgery, cardiology, and hospital administration.
  • Oversee program quality, staff development, and multidisciplinary collaboration to ensure delivery of safe, evidence-based patient care.
Qualifications
  • Board-certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
  • Minimum of five years of clinical experience.
  • Proven track record in quality improvement or program leadership.
