As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorganChase within the Enterprise Technology - Finance team, you serve in a leadership role by providing technical coaching and advisory for multiple technical teams, as well as anticipate the needs and potential dependencies of other functions within the firm. As an expert in your field, your insights influence budget and technical considerations to advance operational efficiencies and functionalities.

In this role you will anticipate organizational needs, manage cross-functional dependencies, and leverage deep technical expertise to shape budget decisions and architectural strategies that advance operational efficiency, scalability, and innovation across the firm.

Job responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction, oversight, and hands-on coaching for a team of software engineers ranging from entry-level to senior, working across moderately complex to highly complex initiatives
  • Own accountability for decisions that materially influence team resources, budget allocation, tactical operations, and the execution of enterprise-wide processes and procedures
  • Drive successful collaboration across engineering teams, business stakeholders, and cross-functional partners to ensure alignment and delivery excellence
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks and blockers across the book of work, escalating critical issues to senior leadership with recommended solutions
  • Provide informed input to executive leadership on budget planning, technical strategy, and architectural considerations to continuously improve operational efficiency and platform functionality
  • Champion a culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect, actively prioritizing diverse representation and creating an environment where all team members can thrive
     

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience . In addition, 2 + years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise 
  • Proven ability to guide and coach engineering teams in aligning technical approaches to strategic business objectives and organizational priorities
  • Demonstrated experience in talent acquisition, development, performance management, and recognition at scale
  • Deep knowledge of the financial services industry and its underlying IT systems, platforms, and regulatory landscape
  • Strong, practical cloud-native engineering experience with a track record of delivering production-grade solutions
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks and AWS, including architecture, deployment, and optimization
  • Solid understanding of the DevOps model, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and agile delivery practices
  • Ability to provide actionable guidance on engineering performance optimization and cost reduction strategies
     

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Proficiency working at the code level, with the ability to engage directly in technical reviews and architectural discussions
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, with broad expertise across multiple technology domains
  • Active AWS Certification (e.g., Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or equivalent)
  • Databricks training or certification (e.g., Databricks Certified Associate or Professional)
