RBC is looking for a Director of Engineering to help shape the future of our digital platform by creating impactful solutions, leading the implementation and optimization of embedding models to transform data into vectorized representations, enabling advanced semantic understanding and contextual relevance in AI-driven applications. You will manage the design and integration of knowledge graphs to structure and link enterprise data, drive the adoption of RAG techniques to enhance AI model outputs by integrating domain-specific knowledge and real-time data retrieval, ensuring accurate and contextually enriched responses. You will oversee the implementation and governance of LLMs, ensuring their effective use in delivering advanced natural language processing capabilities while maintaining compliance with enterprise standards and regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will assist in the development of a portfolio of enterprise applications and tools using technologies such as Python, Express, Node, React, and Ansible.

You will spend at least 60% of your time coding, designing, and engineeringsolutions that power critical systems, while also inspiring a team of talented developers to do their best work. Your contributions will go beyond code and your leadership will elevate the entire team.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing a team of engineers, data scientists, or similar roles.
  • 8+ years of experience working with RDBMS (e.g. MSSQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL) and data technologies (e.g. Snowflake).
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Python, React, and REST APIs/Microservices.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with AI technologies (LLMs, ML).
  • Deep understanding of access/credential management (LDAP, Vault), security protocols (JWT, OAuth, SSL Certificates) and interface specifications (Postman, Swagger, SOAP).
  • Proficiency in DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (Ansible, Artifactory, Kyvos, PowerShell).
  • A passion for technology and a love of software development culture.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with object-oriented programming and microservice design patterns (e.g., load balancing, resiliency).
  • Familiarity with major architectural styles, such as reactive or event-driven systems.
  • Knowledge of modern front-end design trends and technologies.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and the ability to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience within GRC domains, preferably in Operational Risk, Regulatory Compliance, and IT Risk and Archer or similar GRC tools.
