You will lead a team of developers, manage projects, and ensure the software development process runs smoothly. Your commitment to technical excellence, team collaboration, and continuous improvement will be critical in achieving our organizational goals.As a Software Application Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading a team of talented software developers to create high-quality solutions using Microsoft and Azure technologies. Your responsibilities will span people management and ensuring the smooth operation of software systems.

This role will require three days in the office, minimum each week. In 2027 during the Spring/Summer months, you'll be expected to be in the office five days per week. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • People Management:
    • Mentor and manage a team of software developers
    • Set clear goals, provide guidance, and ensure deadlines are met
    • Foster a collaborative and motivated work environment
  • Keeping the Lights On:
      • Ensure the stability, reliability, and continuous operation of software systems
      • Address any technical issues promptly to minimize downtime
      • Collaborate with other departments to meet service-level agreements
    • Performance Evaluation:
      • Evaluate team members’ performance regularly
      • Identify areas for improvement and provide constructive feedback
      • Implement performance improvement plans (PIPs) when necessary
    • Collaboration:
      • Collaborate with PMO, architects, product owners, scrum masters, and other stakeholders
      • Escalate risks and concerns effectively and timely
    Qualifications:
    • Experience:
      • Minimum of 10 years in software development experience within information technology in a highly regulated field such as insurance or finance.
      • 5 years minimum within a management role
    • Technical Expertise:
      • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, programming languages, and web technologies
      • Proficiency in Microsoft technologies (e.g., .NET, C#, Azure services)
    • People Skills:
      • Excellent supervisory and communication abilities
      • Proven experience managing cross-functional teams
    • Education:
      • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
