Job description

Job Summary

Our office in Roanoke, VA is seeking a Director of Electrical Engineering to lead a fast-paced, multi-discipline team. Our Electrical Engineers focus primarily on the design of building-related projects including healthcare, higher educational facilities, large commercial projects, and local government projects using Revit and AutoCAD software.

General Duties
  • Lead, supervise, provide guidance and training to a team of engineers
  • Develop electrical system designs of a given project based on scope of work and/or client RFPs
  • Provide engineering design, evaluation, and planning of electrical systems for a variety of market types
  • Conduct existing building surveys and documentation of existing electrical systems
  • Develop system design calculations and selection of equipment for use in buildings
  • Write and edit project specifications
  • Prepare detailed design documents, reports, and studies
  • Perform code compliance research
  • Coordinate work with other disciplines
  • Provide construction administration services
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients
  • Assist in the procurement of new work including the development of client relations and participation in project interviews
Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical design
  • PE License, preferred
  • Familiarity with codes, standards, and design guidelines
  • Hands‑on experience with the latest versions of AutoCAD, Revit, MS Office, and engineering calculation and performance simulation software
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-discipline team environment
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in the face of shifting projects and deadlines

Compensation & Benefits

The expected base salary range for this role is $100,000 - $145,000 USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
