Director of Operations

Trillium Staffing is now seeking a Director of Operations in Phoenix, AZ for a direct-hire!

Base Salary: $185,000 $215,000/year. The Director of Site Operations is the senior operational leader responsible for the performance, reliability, and safety of data center campus. This role oversees mission-critical infrastructure operations and leads multidisciplinary teams responsible for critical facilities, logistics, and security functions.

The Director will drive operational excellence across the site, ensuring the highest levels of availability, safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction while supporting the continued growth of hyperscale and AI infrastructure platform.

This role requires a leader with deep experience in critical infrastructure environments, strong people leadership, financial oversight, and the ability to partner cross-functionally across engineering, construction, and customer operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership and operational oversight for the data center site, ensuring safe and reliable operations of mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams including critical facilities, logistics, and site security personnel, including direct employees and third-party vendors.
  • Maintain high availability and reliability of mechanical and electrical infrastructure, including power distribution, UPS systems, generators, cooling systems, and supporting equipment.
  • Develop and manage site-level operating (OPEX) and capital (CAPEX) budgets, including vendor contracts, service agreements, and infrastructure investments.
  • Establish and monitor key operational performance indicators (KPIs) related to uptime, maintenance performance, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, promoting a strong culture of operational discipline and accountability.
  • Serve as the primary site leadership contact for internal stakeholders and customers, ensuring strong operational communication and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate closely with construction, engineering, controls, and customer operations teams to support expansions, commissioning activities, and ongoing infrastructure improvements.
  • Lead recruiting, onboarding, and development of site personnel to build and maintain a high-performing operations team.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across operations, reliability engineering, and vendor management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent industry certification and experience.
  • Minimum 8+ years of leadership experience managing operational teams in critical infrastructure environments.
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience supporting mechanical and electrical infrastructure systems.
  • Experience in mission-critical environments such as data centers, hospitals, utilities, power generation, or industrial facilities.
  • Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and third-party vendors.
  • Strong financial and operational management experience, including budget oversight and vendor contract management.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of data center operations experience, particularly in hyperscale or enterprise environments.
  • Strong technical understanding of critical infrastructure systems including: Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, Chillers, Pumps, Air handling units.
  • Experience utilizing data analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar) to drive operational decision-making.
  • Experience managing service level agreements (SLAs) and vendor performance metrics.
  • Demonstrated success leading large mission-critical operations teams in high-availability environments.
