Job description

Our client is looking for an experienced Director of Human Resources & Risk Management to lead the Human Resources and Risk Management department. This person will oversee HR operations, employee relations, compliance, workplace safety, and risk management. The role also works closely with executive leadership to support business goals and create a positive work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all Human Resources and Risk Management functions.

  • Develop HR strategies that support the company's business goals.

  • Advise executive leadership on HR and risk-related matters.

  • Build employee engagement and support a positive workplace culture.

  • Handle employee relations, conflict resolution, and employee wellbeing programs.

  • Oversee compensation, benefits, and total rewards strategies.

  • Manage the company's risk management policies and programs.

  • Develop and administer workplace health and safety programs.

  • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws and regulations.

  • Supervise and coach HR team members.

  • Assist with strategic planning, organizational development, and change management.

  • Maintain confidentiality of company, employee, and donor information.

  • Manage department planning, budgeting, and implementation.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

  • At least 8 years of progressive Human Resources or Risk Management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • SPHR, PHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or Risk Management certification is strongly preferred.

  • Previous supervisory or management experience is required.

  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, employee benefits, workplace safety, and compliance.

  • Experience with strategic planning, organizational development, and change management.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).

  • Ability to learn and use HRIS software, including Paycom.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.

Work Environment
  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment.

  • Flexible work hours may be required to respond to critical issues.

  • Position involves extended periods of sitting, working on a computer, and using the telephone.

  • Low risk of exposure to blood and blood products.

  • Occasional travel to other locations is required.

  • A valid driver's license and the ability to be insured under the company's commercial auto insurance policy are required.
