Job description

The Risk Management and Compliance Coordinator is responsible for organizing and coordinating risk activities for hospital-wide operations which include education, monitoring, trending, and developing policies and procedures. The Risk Management Coordinator monitors complex risks, analyzes trends associated with clinical operations, and reports to identified committees. Additionally, the Risk Management Coordinator administers the Risk Management Plan, and Compliance Plan, leads the Grievance and Compliance Committees, collaborates with the administrative team in the implementation of the plan, and is the subject matter expert regarding the plans.

The Risk Management Coordinator and Compliance Coordinator are accountable for the identification of risks, evaluation of events and near misses, and implementation of risk initiatives that will minimize and prevent the adverse effects of loss on human, physical, and financial assets. The Risk Management and Compliance Coordinator supports the organization in identifying process-related factors (root causes), and implementing action(s) to reduce or eliminate recurrence. The Risk Management and Compliance Coordinator promotes a safety culture for patient visitors, staff, and contracted personnel and ensures actions are in accordance with organization, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.

The Risk Management and Compliance Coordinator is expected to adhere to and abide by the rules and regulations set forth by federal and state law and other regulatory agencies to support decisions to minimize risk exposure to the organization. The Risk Management and Compliance Coordinator must demonstrate critical thinking, analytical skills, clinical judgment, communication proficiency, teamwork skills, and leadership when dealing with complex situations. The Risk Management and Compliance Coordinator investigates pending or threatened litigation and manages the facility insurance program including renewals and claim tracking . The Risk Management and Compliance Coordinator manages the patient grievance program. They also assist with coordination with local legal representation in managing medical malpractice. This may include facilitating interviews and deposition preparation, and deposition attendance as appropriate.

Education:  

  • 4 year/Bachelor's Degree - Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Nursing, Business, Legal Studies, Risk Management, or related field. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, candidates may qualify with a recognized professional certification in healthcare risk, compliance, privacy, or quality (e.g., CPHRM, CHC, CHPC, CPHQ), AND equivalent healthcare experience on a year-for-year basis, demonstrating advanced competency in risk management, compliance, patient safety, or healthcare operations

  • Post Graduate Degree, viewed favorably (MHA, MPH, MBA, MS in Risk/Compliance) CPHRM, CHC, CHPC, CPHQ, viewed favorably
