Job description

Peters & May is looking for an experienced Project Cargo Sea Export Operator to join our expanding Global Freight Forwarding Division in Fort Lauderdale.

You will manage international ocean export shipments from booking through to final sailing, with a particular focus on Roll-on/Roll-off, Out of Gauge, breakbulk, heavy-lift and project cargo.

The role includes arranging vessel bookings, coordinating with ports and terminals, reviewing cargo dimensions and lifting requirements, preparing export documentation, monitoring vessel schedules and supporting quotations and feasibility assessments for specialist shipments.

What we are looking for
  • Three to five yearsโ€™ experience in ocean export operations within freight forwarding, an NVOCC, a shipping line or a project cargo environment.
  • Proven experience handling RoRo, Out of Gauge, breakbulk, heavy-lift or project cargo.
  • Strong knowledge of ocean freight procedures, vessel operations and port processes.
  • Experience coordinating oversized and high-value cargo.
  • Knowledge of customs procedures and international shipping documentation.
  • The ability to interpret dimensions, lifting requirements, stowage plans and vessel constraints.
  • Strong commercial awareness and knowledge of ocean freight pricing.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Authorisation to work in the United States.
  • Fluency in English.

Experience in yacht transport, marine logistics, heavy logistics or project forwarding would be highly advantageous. Spanish or other language skills would also be beneficial.
