Position Summary Moorings Park is seeking a dedicated and talented Director of Ministry to join our team. The Director of Ministry is responsible for directing a meaningful Ministry program throughout Moorings Park Institute that provides worship, support, guidance, education, and pastoral/spiritual/end of life care for residents and partners of Moorings Park.

Key Contributions

  • Plans/conducts or supports weekly non-denominational worship services in collaboration with the Pastoral Chaplain. Conducts or supports all other scheduled liturgical services, Bible studies, Memorial services, support groups and educational programs. Works with the Pastoral Chaplain to produce the worship materials required for these programs/services.
  • Plans/conducts or supports worship services for all major Christian holidays as well as providing services for Veterans Day, Memorial Day, Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day.
  • Provides spiritual support to terminally ill patients and their families under the hospice program or other end-of-life support programs, including hospitalizations and in-home care. Conduct spiritual assessments of patients, taking into account mental, emotional, physical and spiritual stresses, and respond with appropriate counseling and care.
  • Attends management meetings as required and supports services and programming in the Assisted Living areas and Skilled Nursing Facility. Provides input and recommendations to the Administrators regarding resident emotional care and pastoral services.
  • Conducts rounds in Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing to offer spiritual support and counseling to residents. Liaison with the Licensed Social Worker and Administrator to establish religious and spiritual assessment tools to drive pastoral referrals.
  • Assess the religious and spiritual needs of the residents, when moved or in the process of moving to another level of care or when there is a significant change in condition.
  • Responsible for all religious and spiritual education, and special event services including, but not limited to, support groups, luncheons, films, lectures, bible studies and devotionals throughout all Moorings Park communities. Coordinates outside services.
  • Actively recruits, screens, authorizes, supervises, and evaluates area clergy, church councils, religious leaders, and teachers to provide religious programs for residents of Moorings Park.
  • Plans and coordinates all funerals and memorial services. Maintains the community Guide to Memorial Services and Funerals.
  • Participates as a standing member of the Residents in Caring (RIC) program. Provides input and recommendations as deemed appropriate.
  • Plans, coordinates, and screens applicants seeking to be married in Bower Chapel. Assists with vows and wedding service and makes recommendations to the Executive Director.
  • Develops an annual business plan and metrics scorecard to measure the success of chaplain services, operates within budget, and updates policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Manages and procures all of the worship-ware utilized both at Bower Chapel and across campuses.
  • Supervises the Pastoral Chaplain.
  • Acts as the main staff liaison with the resident Religious & Spiritual Life Committee.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language required.
  • During emergencies or natural disasters, may be required to remain on duty for the duration of the event.
  • Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree from an accredited seminary or theological institution required.
  • Minimum of ten years’ work experience in the ministry and leading a church congregation.
  • Experience working with seniors preferred.
