Job description

The Director of Procurement is the day-to-day owner and operator of Authority Brands’ Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) services through BuyMax SPE LLC, supporting all Authority Brands franchise brands. This role is responsible for end-to-end execution of procurement activities, ensuring the Preferred Vendor programs deliver measurable value to both Authority Brands corporate and its franchisees, while supporting enterprise objectives around scale, margin improvement, and operational simplicity.

The role is hands-on and accountable for both strategy and execution, serving as the primary decision-maker and escalation point for supplier relationships and management, pricing programs, private-labeled product sales, vendor rebates, contract negotiations, vendor sponsorship programs, and franchisee procurement and sourcing needs.

Responsibilities:

1. GPO Ownership & Daily Operations

  • Own and manage all day-to-day procurement and GPO operations across brands
  • Ensure continuity, performance, and scalability of procurement operations, and the Preferred Vendor Programs
  • Translate leadership priorities into executable procurement actions
  • Maintain operational discipline while adapting to brand-specific needs

2. Transformation & Leadership of Operating Model

  • Revolutionize the core competencies of GPO offering while continuing to develop the procurement function, including internal team members and external resources
  • Define and refine strategic levers within the organization and build appropriate support network upon that foundation – including but not limited to: building & hiring of procurement team, pricing strategies, category scope, customer profiles, and product road mapping
  • Create and establish clear processes, decision rights, and governance frameworks including KPIs (adoption rate, ROI, revenue targets, vendor performance metrics)
  • Operate as both player and coach, remaining directly involved in critical initiatives while building scalable capability in framework of new BuyMax vision

3. Supplier Strategy, Contracting & Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary executive owner of strategic, international, national, and private label supplier relationships
  • Lead all contract negotiations, renewals, renegotiations, and amendments, including pricing, rebates, SLAs, sponsorship responsibilities, exclusivity, and termination rights
  • Drive supplier consolidation where appropriate while maintaining adequate regional and local coverage
  • Resolve escalations related to pricing, service levels, compliance, and contract adherence

4. Pricing, Rebates & Financial Governance

  • Design, manage, and optimize pricing structures, rebate programs, and vendor sponsorship models
  • Ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and reconciliation of monthly, quarterly, and annual rebates in partnership with Finance
  • Maintain transparency and governance around supplier economics and franchisee benefits
  • Identify and mitigate leakage, non-compliance, or program inefficiencies

5. Franchisee Enablement & Adoption

  • Act as a key interface between franchisees, brand leadership, and suppliers
  • Drive adoption of preferred vendor programs through clear value articulation and engagement
  • Incorporate franchisee feedback into vendor and category strategy decisions
  • Support brand leadership with procurement insights impacting unit-level economics

6. Category, Spend & Margin Management

  • Oversee category strategies across core and indirect spend areas (materials & supplies, equipment, fleet, insurance, marketing, apparel, etc.)
  • Lead the analysis of spend data to identify savings opportunities, standardization gaps, and vendor overlap
  • Prioritize initiatives based on financial impact, feasibility, and franchisee readiness

7. Private Label Strategy, Sales Oversight & Commercial Performance

  • Own the end-to-end private label procurement and commercial strategy, including supplier selection, product scope, pricing, and contract terms
  • Oversee private label sales performance, margin contribution, and growth initiatives across the franchise network
  • Negotiate private label manufacturing, distribution, logistics, and agreements to maximize value and protect brand standards
  • Partner with Operations, Marketing, and Brand leadership to drive private label adoption, penetration, and profitability

8. Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner closely with Finance, Operations, Risk Management, Legal, Marketing, and Brand Presidents
  • Support new brand onboarding, integration activities, and M&A-related vendor transitions
  • Contribute to procurement-related technology, data, and reporting initiatives

9. Conference, Event & Vendor-Sponsored Program Management

  • Own procurement and commercial oversight of Authority Brands’ conferences, conventions, summits, and major franchise events throughout the year
  • Lead vendor participation strategy, including sponsorship structures, pricing tiers, bundled packages, and commercial terms
  • Negotiate and manage conference-related vendor contracts, sponsorship agreements, rebates, and marketing funding
  • Ensure events are financially accretive, aligned with GPO objectives, and reinforce preferred vendor and private label programs
  • Partner with Marketing, Operations, and Brand Leadership to align event strategy with franchisee education, adoption, and commercial goals
  • Oversee post-event performance analysis, including vendor ROI, franchisee engagement, and revenue or rebate outcomes
