The duties of a director of physical therapy include running a physical therapy office; this includes administration work, billing, scheduling staff, and maintaining the clinic. You are also responsible for directing the policies, objectives, and programs offered to patients. You perform direct patient therapy within your area of expertise and monitor your patients’ progress. You manage the day-to-day operations in your clinic and supervise therapists while providing staff support. You are in charge of customer service, case management, treatment plan compliance, and clinical assessments. You should expect to implement and evaluate patient care programs and make sure therapy procedures are effective and being completed with the appropriate level of intensity. Other duties include understanding and reinforcing facility policies, and meeting all state and federal regulations and licensing requirements. You are responsible for correct therapy documentation, and ensuring therapists understand how to conform with billing procedures while meeting requirements for third-party payers. You then review and approve all billing.
