DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The Office of Development (OOD) at United Way of Greater Atlanta is responsible for generating the philanthropic revenue that fuels the organization’s mission to improve child well-being and advance equity across the region. Within this office, the Partnerships Team plays a critical role in cultivating and managing relationships with corporate and community partners. This team is charged with identifying and securing new business opportunities while also nurturing short- and long-term partnerships that align partner organizations' values and goals with United Way’s strategic priorities. Beyond traditional workplace giving campaigns, the Partnerships Team works collaboratively with departments across the Office of Development, including Major Gifts, Volunteer Engagement, and Donor Engagement, to offer partners and their employees a range of meaningful ways to get involved. From hands-on volunteering to marketing and storytelling, the Partnerships Team ensures that every partner has a personalized, purpose-driven experience that deepens their connection to the community and amplifies their impact.

JOB SUMMARY

The Associate Director of Partnerships is responsible for managing a dynamic portfolio of corporate accounts and partnership opportunities throughout the fiscal year. This role requires a strategic, proactive approach to cultivating long-term relationships to generate new business opportunities aligned with United Way’s mission.

A strong relationship-builder, the Associate Director will work closely with key stakeholders to deepen engagement, drive revenue, and ensure mutual value. Success in this role depends on your ability to establish trust, communicate effectively, and create tailored partnership strategies that meet both organizational and partner goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategize with the AVP of Partnerships wholistically to develop partnership plans for new partners  based upon target research and corporate social responsibility priorities and goals.
  • Develop innovative strategies to secure new partnerships to support United Way of Greater Atlanta’s Child Well-Being Mission.
  • Focusing on Atlanta’s growing industries across United Way of Greater Atlanta’s 13 county footprint.
  • Lead and assist the strategy and activation for new partnerships.
  • Manage an assigned account portfolio with a focus on identifying partnership whitespace and develop multi-year partnership proposals.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with key stakeholders, including but not limited to corporate engagement leads, CSR directors, executives, and other key account volunteers to plan & implement partnership activations.
  • Closely monitor account portfolio and adhere to a timeline to ensure partnership activation items are executed in a timely manner, focusing strongly on customer service.
  • Continue efforts to amplify new partnership planning, that provides solutions to stakeholders’ business and community challenges.
  • Use strong attention to detail when reporting on partnership and donor information in CRM software, including but not limited to contact reports, employee count, UWGA involvement, company processing information, research & insights, workplace giving campaign start/end dates, etc.
  • Hold a strong understanding of United Way’s Child Well-Being Initiative and Agenda and be able to clearly articulate the mission and value of the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education level required: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Years of service required: 2+ years
  • Experience needed: Sales, Account Management
  • Communication skills: Average or above average Public Speaking, Professional Writing, Active Listener, Relationship Building, Emotional Intelligence
  • Supervision skills: Although they’re not in a supervisor role, Leadership, Project Oversight, Delegation, Conflict Resolution, and accountability are skills needed to succeed in this role
