Director of Operations - Schulson Collective

Schulson Collective is a nationally recognized hospitality group known for chef‑driven concepts, immersive design, and exceptional guest experiences. Across our diverse portfolio, we deliver high‑touch service, operational precision, and a culture rooted in professionalism and excellence.

We are seeking an accomplished Director of Operations to oversee multi‑unit performance, lead high‑volume teams, and partner closely with senior leadership to drive consistency, profitability, and long‑term growth across the Collective.

About the Role

The Director of Operations is a key member of the leadership team, responsible for the strategic, financial, and cultural success of multiple Schulson Collective restaurants. This leader ensures each concept operates at the highest level of execution, maintains brand standards, and delivers an exceptional guest experience.

This role requires a polished, decisive operator with strong business acumen, a deep understanding of chef‑driven environments, and the ability to lead and develop high‑performing teams across multiple markets.

 

Essential Functions

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee daily operations across multiple Schulson Collective concepts, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and adherence to brand standards.
  • Partner with General Managers, Executive Chefs, and Culinary Directors to maintain seamless FOH/BOH alignment.
  • Conduct regular site visits to evaluate service, hospitality, cleanliness, and operational performance.
  • Lead openings, transitions, and major operational initiatives across markets.

Financial & Business Performance

  • Drive financial results through disciplined cost control, labor strategy, and revenue optimization.
  • Review weekly and monthly P&Ls, identifying opportunities and implementing corrective action plans.
  • Oversee inventory systems, purchasing, vendor relationships, and cost‑management strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with Schulson Collective financial policies and reporting standards.

People Leadership & Culture

  • Recruit, hire, and develop General Managers, Chefs, and management teams across the Collective.
  • Build a culture of accountability, professionalism, and high performance.
  • Provide coaching, performance evaluations, and succession planning for key leadership roles.
  • Partner with HR on employee relations, training programs, and compliance.

Guest Experience & Brand Standards

  • Ensure every concept delivers exceptional hospitality and maintains Schulson Collective service standards.
  • Review guest feedback, address negative impressions, and implement service‑driven improvements.
  • Maintain consistency in brand identity, menu execution, and experiential elements across locations.

Strategic Planning & Growth

  • Collaborate with senior leadership on long‑term planning, new concept development, and market expansion.
  • Lead operational readiness for new openings, including staffing, training, systems, and launch execution.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and operational excellence.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

This role directly oversees General Managers and collaborates closely with Executive Chefs, Culinary Directors, and senior leadership across all assigned restaurants.

 

Physical Demands

The Director of Operations will spend significant time on‑site across multiple locations, including extended periods of walking, standing, and observing service. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 5–7+ years of multi‑unit leadership experience in upscale, chef‑driven, or high‑volume restaurant groups.
  • Proven success in leading large teams, driving financial performance, and maintaining brand standards.
  • Strong understanding of P&L management, labor strategy, inventory systems, and operational controls.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership presence, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Toast, Resy, and workforce management systems.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, travel between markets, and support openings and major initiatives.
