Business Development Director

Job Summary

The Directo of Business Development position is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive sales plan that would increase revenues via direct customer contact and working key accounts in the Military and Defense industry. Candidate should preferably have experience in Sandler Sales Model or similar sales process. The position is a remote work position, requires travel and some overseas responsibilities. Experience within the military ground vehicle industry would be a plus.

Examples of Essential Functions:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develops and implements the recommendations of the Staco's Strategic Plan.
  • Performs market research and analysis as it applies to their assigned territory.
  • Targets customers and key accounts to create buying relationships and product applications, through prospecting, qualifying and meeting with prospective customers.
  • Establishes daily, weekly and monthly activity calendar to achieve sales targets.
  • Provides monthly/quarterly performance metrics, including corrective action plans when targets are not met.
  • Is a key contributor to the Strategic Planning Process.
  • Participates in annual strategic planning.
  • Prepares, develops and manages product/program submittals inclusive of pricing, margin analysis and bid management.
  • Provides marketing feedback from territories/key accounts as needed.
  • Works with VP of Sales (both domestic and international) when defining key accounts and vertical markets.
  • Manages sales representatives and resellers as assigned.

Qualifications Guidelines

Education/training/experience:

Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field or 5 years of sales in technical products within the Military and Defense industry.

Knowledge of:

  • Aerospace, military/defense market
  • Military ground vehicles
  • Applicable vertical markets
  • Program management
  • Sales processes such as Sandler Sales of equivalent
  • Margin analysis
  • Performance metrics
  • Human Machine Interface (HMI) Products
  • Military Standards

Physical Standards:

  • Air and automobile travel as necessary, up to 75% of work week.
  • This position requires frequently sitting, standing, reaching, walking, and handling/grasping of materials.
  • This position may rarely require kneeling, bending, squatting.
  • Must have finger dexterity, ability to use keyboard/ten key.
  • Constantly sitting, standing, walking, and operating a computer workstation.
  • Reach, stoop and lift office files, records or reports, typically weighing 50 pounds or less.
