Job Description
Silverthorne Advisory Group is seeking an Intelligent Automation Engineer to join an exciting and growing opportunity supporting Defense sector clients. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex enterprise automation and business process challenges while working at the intersection of financial management, cloud platforms, enterprise applications, data integration, and emerging artificial intelligence technologies. The successful candidate will support enterprise modernization initiatives through the design, development, testing, implementation, and stabilization of intelligent automation solutions that integrate financial systems, ERP platforms, cloud data environments, analytics platforms, and reporting solutions.
The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation in intelligent automation, software development, data integration, or cloud technologies and is passionate about applying automation and AI to solve complex business challenges. Experience with RPA platforms such as UiPath, Automation Anywhere, or Microsoft Power Automate, combined with knowledge of enterprise financial systems and cloud technologies, is highly desirable. This role offers the opportunity to deliver modern automation architectures that improve financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, optimize business operations, and enable data-driven decision-making across federal organizations.
The position is on-site at Scott AFB.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy intelligent automation solutions that optimize financial and operational business processes, improving efficiency, accuracy, and productivity.
- Conduct enterprise-wide assessments of business processes to identify automation opportunities, evaluate process maturity, and prioritize high-value initiatives for robotic process automation (RPA) and intelligent automation.
- Analyze existing workflows and design optimized business processes that align with organizational objectives while integrating seamlessly within existing functional and IT environments.
- Develop and maintain scalable automation workflows using RPA technologies and modern automation frameworks, ensuring reliability, security, and compliance with enterprise standards.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, technical teams, and project leadership to gather requirements, deliver automation solutions, and ensure projects meet established timelines and client objectives.
- Perform risk assessments related to internal controls, business process reengineering, automation governance, and configuration management to support compliance and operational excellence.
- Deliver end-user training, knowledge transfer sessions, and post-implementation support to promote user adoption and resolve technical issues.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including solution designs, process maps, standard operating procedures (SOPs), testing artifacts, and operational support documentation for implemented automation solutions.
- Monitor automation performance, troubleshoot production issues, and implement continuous improvements to maximize process efficiency and business value.
Requirements 
- 2+ years of experience designing, developing, testing, and implementing automation solutions, process improvements, or enterprise application integrations.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Analytics, Business Information Systems, or a related technical field; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
- Strong technical foundation in intelligent automation, robotic process automation (RPA), software development, data integration, or cloud technologies.
- Experience with RPA or automation platforms such as UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, Microsoft Power Automate, or similar technologies.
- Proficiency with programming and scripting languages such as Python, SQL, JavaScript, or other automation-focused development tools.
- Experience integrating enterprise applications, databases, APIs, reporting platforms, and cloud-based data environments.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices, including requirements gathering, solution design, testing, deployment, documentation, and production support.
- Ability to analyze business processes, identify automation opportunities, and translate functional requirements into technical solutions.
- Experience developing technical documentation, including process workflows, solution designs, test plans, and user support materials.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.
- Ability to support multiple projects, manage priorities, and deliver solutions within established timelines.
