Job description

The City of Bridgeton, Missouri is seeking candidates for the position of Finance Director. He/she shall hold a bachelor's degree in accounting, public/business administration, or a related field from an accredited university, and requires at least five years of experience in the field of municipal accounting, finance or a related field. Priority will be given to any candidate who has earned the designation of Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO).

Although the position is titled Finance Officer, it functions as the City's chief financial officer or finance director and highest-ranking finance professional, providing strategic financial leadership and oversight of all phases of the City's financial activities.

He/She performs accounting and payroll activities, manages benefits, prepares financial statements, ensures budgetary compliance, oversees internal controls, executes the City's investment policy, and performs various other financial analysis projects including the preparation of materials for the annual budget and audit. He/She oversees the finance staff. This is an exempt position. Salary range is currently up to $132,454 (with future consideration of substantial range increase as part of compensation study recommendation). Starting salary is DOQ.
