Job description

Director of Development

Title: Director of Development
Reports to: Principal

Summary:
The Director of Development will report to the principal, and work with School administration, faculty, volunteers, parents, school commission, development committee and others to plan, direct, and implement a development program for St. Michael Catholic School.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (note: other duties may be assigned on an as needed basis.)

Major Position Responsibilities and Regular Activities
   ? Implement and evaluate Annual Fund annual giving program including but not limited to personal solicitation, phone and direct mail campaigns.
   ? Maintain high visibility within the school, and with the external community to raise the awareness of and potential for fundraising.
   ? Develop and manage a reliable and qualified volunteer team to support fundraising efforts.
   ? Represent the St. Michael development program to faculty/parent groups, community organizations, donor/prospect gatherings, etc. and as assigned.
   ? Maintain good relationships with school volunteers and assist them in their needs.
   ? Actively participate in the identification and cultivation of major donor prospects;
   ? Engage pastor, principal and members of the community in the process of identifying and soliciting key prospects.
   ? Plan and execute fundraising events for the school.
   ? Actively identify opportunities to engage grandparent, alumni and parish community.
   ? Attend St. Michael Catholic School staff meetings and serve on committees as appropriate.
   ? Track and analyze fundraising efforts and make recommendations for improvements and changes.
   ? Ensure the prompt processing and acknowledging of all gifts in compliance with all applicable rules and standards.
   ? Maintain the donor database.
   ? Monitor income and expenditures to ensure adherence to budget projections and program goals.
   ? Provide periodic reports to the principal (and others as determined).
   ? Be accountable for abiding by all St. Michael policies and procedures.
   ? Be accountable for developing and implementing programs and procedures that meet stated objectives.
















Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or related experience required. Fundraising experience preferred. Knowledge of and conversant in development fundraising principles preferred. Experience with fundraising software preferred.

Organizational/Interpersonal Skills:
A high level of organization and interpersonal skill is required. Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to work well with others is essential. Must have the ability to manage and to present oneself professionally. Must have demonstrated success working with volunteers.

Language and Communication Skills:
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, is required. Ability to maintain confidentiality is mandatory.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, to collect and analyze data, to establish facts and to draw valid conclusions is required.
