About the Role:
The Manager of Data Science & Engineering is pivotal in our organization and is responsible for leading the data analytics division. This role involves overseeing all data analytics teams and technologies, ensuring the delivery of data-driven insights that support business objectives. The Manager of Data Science & Engineering will report directly to the Director of IT, Business Enablement and will play a key role in shaping our data strategy and capabilities.
Responsibilities include:
  • Leadership and Strategy: Provide visionary leadership to the data analytics teams, fostering an environment of innovation and continuous improvement. Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with the organization's objectives, enhancing decision-making and operational efficiency. Collaborate with senior IT leadership to integrate data analytics into the broader IT strategy and initiatives.
  • Team Management and Development: Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of data analytics personnel, ensuring a high-performing team capable of meeting the organization's data needs. Promote a culture of data literacy and analytics excellence across the organization. Manage team performance, setting clear goals and objectives, and providing regular feedback and support.
  • Data Governance and Quality: Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure data integrity, quality, and security. Lead initiatives to improve data quality and accessibility, ensuring that data assets are leveraged effectively across the organization.
  • Technology and Innovation: Evaluate and recommend data science and analytics technologies and tools that enhance the organization's analytical capabilities. Drive the adoption of advanced analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to unlock new insights and opportunities. Oversee the management of data analytics platforms and infrastructure, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with business units to understand their data requirements and challenges, fostering strong partnerships. Translate business needs into analytics projects, guiding teams from concept to implementation. Communicate insights and recommendations to executive leadership, influencing data-driven decision-making.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in data analytics or a similar field, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Proven track record of developing and executing data strategies that drive business value.
  • Deep understanding of data governance, data quality management, and data security principles.
