Purpose of Position

The Director of Business Services is responsible for the overall leadership and management of Goodwill's Business Services Department, including manufacturing, production operations, business development, customer relationships, quality systems, financial performance, and team development.

This position provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure the department operates safely, efficiently, and profitably while creating meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities and barriers to employment.

The successful candidate will possess extensive operations, production, or manufacturing leadership experience and demonstrate the ability to develop teams, drive process improvements, manage projects, analyze business data, and build strong customer relationships in support of Goodwill's mission.

Essential Functions

The Director of Business Services is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of Goodwill Industries of Kansas' Business Services Department. Essential functions include:

  • Lead manufacturing, production, and contract operations to ensure quality, efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Identifyoperational gaps and implement process improvements that enhance productivity, quality, and operational performance.
  • Oversee project planning, production scheduling, capacity planning, and resource allocation.
  • Build, develop, and coach high-performing managers, supervisors, and staff through effective leadership and accountability.
  • Monitor and analyze operational, financial, and production data to drive informed business decisions.
  • Develop departmental budgets, forecasts, and revenue projections whilemaintainingexpense-to-revenue goals.
  • Direct the bidding, evaluation, and acquisition of contract opportunities to support organizational growth.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and ensure employees have the training, tools, and support necessary to succeed.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, communication, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, suppliers, community partners, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, quality, safety, and organizational standards.

What You'll BringRequired Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing, production, operations, supply chain, or related environment.
  • Direct experience in a production, operations, supply chain, project management, or related business services environment required.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams, developing talent, and improving operational performance.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to utilize operational metrics, spreadsheets, data, forecasting, and financial reporting to support decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Preferred Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business , Operations Management, Manufacturing, or a related field .
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with ISO quality systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience overseeing production planning, capacity planning, and process improvement programs.
