Job description

About BAO Consulting LLC
In 2021, we started BAO Consulting Group because we saw an opportunity to redefine the consulting model through our diverse experience, versatile capabilities, and extensive networks. From high-stakes challenges to day-to-day relationships, we strive to make an impact by providing practical and effective advice that helps you reach your goals-and solve your problems-quickly and efficiently.
We provide comprehensive Accounting, Finance and Transaction Advisory services, offering strategic expertise and tailored solutions to address complex business needs. Our clients rely on us for trusted guidance and informed decision-making across all stages of their business lifecycle.
About the role
BAO Consulting Group is seeking a Director of Business Development to own and grow a pipeline of middle-market and PE-backed clients across our CFO advisory and finance transformation service lines. This is a hunter role - you will prospect, cultivate, and close. You know the CFO advisory space, you have relationships, and you are ready to put them to work inside a firm that actually delivers.
What you'll do
  • Own and manage a full-cycle BD pipeline from initial outreach through signed engagement letter
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue net new client opportunities across target segments: PE-backed portfolio companies, founder-owned businesses, and middle-market CFO organizations
  • Build and maintain a high-value referral network including private equity sponsors, investment banks, M&A attorneys, and accounting firm partners
  • Collaborate with BAO's consulting leaders to develop tailored proposals, pitch decks, and scope-of-work documents
  • Represent BAO at industry events, conferences, and networking forums in the Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston markets
  • Maintain CRM hygiene and pipeline reporting; provide weekly updates to leadership on pipeline status and activity
  • Partner with the Chief Growth Officer to refine BAO's go-to-market messaging and targeting strategy
  • Support marketing efforts including content, case studies, and social presence in coordination with leadership

Qualifications
  • 5-8 years of BD, sales, or client development experience in professional services - consulting, accounting advisory, investment banking, or similar
  • Demonstrated track record of generating and closing new business in a B2B services environment
  • Existing relationships with CFOs, Controllers, PE sponsors, or finance executives in the Texas market
  • Strong understanding of CFO advisory, finance transformation, or accounting services - you can speak the language
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; polished presenter with executive presence
  • Self-directed, results-oriented, and comfortable operating without a large support infrastructure
  • Proficiency in CRM tools (HubSpot, Zoho, or equivalent) and Microsoft Office/Teams

Preferred qualifications
  • Prior experience selling or marketing professional services at a boutique advisory firm
  • Active network in the Dallas-Fort Worth and/or Houston PE and finance communities
  • Familiarity with ERP implementations, financial close transformation, or transaction advisory services

Company benefits
  • Medical, Dental & Vision - comprehensive coverage for you and your dependents.
  • 401(k) with Employer Match - we invest in your future, not just your clients'.
  • Unlimited PTO - take the time you need. We measure output, not hours.
  • Paid Parental Leave - time to be present when it matters most.
  • Professional Development - CPA CPE reimbursement and continuing education support.
