Director of Operations, Health Analytics Practice

Location: Chicago, New York, Washington, DC, or Tampa.

About the Opportunity

Supports business operations and growth of the Health Analytics Practice (HAP) under the firm’s Industries & Special Practices community. Requires a strategic, entrepreneurial leader comfortable working in ambiguity.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with HAP experts and senior staff to develop practice strategy, improve financial performance, and grow revenue and profitability.
  • Collaborate with BRG’s Financial Planning & Analytics (FP&A) team and HAP leadership to maintain rolling tracking and forecasting tools, aiming to achieve key revenue, margin, utilization, and leverage goals.
  • Monitor HAP financial performance with FP&A, and schedule periodic check‑ins for performance updates.
  • Act as liaison among HAP leadership, ISP community’s Director of Operations, and corporate VPs responsible for expert performance review, staffing, utilization, compensation, and staff performance.
  • Lead strategic practice initiatives, including staffing & utilization management, headcount forecasting, staff performance management, learning & development, and practice data management.
  • Maintain and track business development budgets and funding requests with HAP leadership.
  • Partner with BRG Business Development to develop, track, and coordinate BD opportunities (job pitches, new case opportunities, marketing events).
  • Coordinate cross‑practice market‑facing initiatives and improve internal communication of practice progress.
  • Support practice events such as MD summit and other HAP meetings.
  • Supervise operational staff such as HAP operations managers and ISP operations coordinators.
Qualifications
  • Consultant or former consultant aiming for practice operations leadership, with background in strategy, management, or finance in a professional services firm.
  • Minimum of 10 years prior work experience, preferably in fast‑paced consulting.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and an entrepreneurial mindset; ability to drive projects independently.
  • Proficiency in analyzing financial information and building financial models (practice profitability, resource planning, compensation modeling).
  • Excellent written and oral communication; confident, clear style.
  • Strong project, time, and organizational management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize shifting demands, and learn quickly.
  • Empathy, intellectual curiosity, and mature presence.
  • Experience managing relationships and developing solution‑based proposals in a professional services environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to travel to HAP offices in Boston, Chicago, New York, Tampa, and Washington, DC.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s, MBA, CFA, or CPA a plus.
Salary and Travel

Salary Range: $175,000 – $250,000 per year.

Travel primarily to offices with significant presence of HAP staff.

Benefits
