Description

The IT Network Engineer I, is primarily responsible for the company’s network operations first-level support needs. This position troubleshoots problems, develops configuration templates and processes, configures network devices, monitors for outages, and documents the network architecture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform the technical support and maintenance tasks necessary to operate and monitor the IT network environment and respond to problems as they arise. Specific task responsibilities include:

ï‚§ Implement best practice processes to troubleshoot and resolve outages.

ï‚§ Works with network providers to resolve installation and outage issues.

ï‚§ Reports significant system outages and causes to IT management and provide sufficient information to perform root cause analysis.

ï‚§ Provides direct network operations support, including router and switch configuration, firewall administration, VPN support, and IDS/IPS and URL filtering support.

ï‚§ Monitors software vendors for new releases and patches and applies same as appropriate to established policies.

• Implement, support, and report on Regal IT network operations. Specific responsibilities include:

ï‚§ Regularly review all network systems to ensure controls are present and configurations are up to the current standard.

ï‚§ Troubleshoot and resolve network outages.

 Configure network equipment for deployment in Regal’s network.

ï‚§ Participate as a team/project resource to complete current network improvement projects.

ï‚§ Monitor new developments in network and firewall technology and make recommendations as appropriate.

 Participate in development and implementation of components to ensure compliance with Regal’s network standards and architecture

ï‚§ Recommend IT network operations policy changes as appropriate.

ï‚§ Participates with on-site recovery center team in the event of a disaster

ï‚§ Updates Network architecture, design and standards, plans and DR documentation

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- One to two years of experience and a proven track record in installing and supporting a complex network with multiple technology types, technology suppliers, and network elements.

- Current and demonstrated competency in IT network operations, systems, and reporting including responsibility for having implemented routing and switching topologies, firewall architectures, and collateral security systems.

- At least two years’ reference-able experience with responsibility for IT network operations at a large retail, financial service, or Internet Service Corporation based on Cisco networking standards.

- Experience with formal project management techniques, process design and management (metrics) is desired.

- Experience with the direct administration of Cisco routers and switches is required.

- Experience with the administration of Checkpoint NG/NGx firewalls is a plus.

- Experience in Theatre Information Technology is preferred; experience in distributed retail environment is desired as an alternative

CCNA level certification or higher is required.

Professional Skills:

• Verifiable knowledge of best practices in security and network operations.

• Demonstrated skills to communicate difficult technical concepts clearly to a variety of individuals of varying technical expertise and understanding.

• Good written and verbal communication skills to deal effectively with the business unit executives, management and staff, as well as IT management and staff.

• Possess good problem-solving skills for a complex network topology, being able to assemble a team as needed to identify issues, root causes and solutions.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Knoxville, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
