Job description

Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opportunity for a Project Engineer to support our Mining and Pelletizing Operations in Michigan and Minnesota. The Project Engineer is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and input for capital project execution.

Summary of Responsibilities
  • Assembles project estimates and schedules ranging from Project Scoping to Project Execution Phases.
  • Prepares outside engineering scopes of work and bid documents.
  • Provides oversight of contracted engineering work performed by outside firms.
  • Manages outside engineering schedules and costs.
  • Ensures quality deliverables.
  • Works closely with Mining and Pelletizing sites to incorporate their input and priorities into project definition, ensuring effective project execution and meets project objectives
  • Works closely with the Environmental Department and contracted Environmental firms to define and manage any permit to operate issues associated with projects.
  • Provides construction oversight including contractor management when required for Mining Technology executed capital projects.
  • Actively tracks project spending.
  • Assist Director with capital spending forecasts.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in engineering or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in mineral or industrial processing facility preferred.
