Job description

Overview
At Mojang Studios, the creators of Minecraft, we are on a mission to build a better world through the power of play.
Why play? Well, play is at the heart of everything we do. It's the blocky backbone of our games, the core of our development philosophy, and even the origin of our name. From the relentless experimentation of our endlessly inspiring community to the classrooms where Minecraft has become an essential teaching tool, play is the bedrock of our existence.
We enable millions to create and play together, connect people across the globe, and foster a community that is among the most active and passionate in the world. Our community is global and incredibly diverse. When we are developing anything within our franchise, we keep this in mind. We want everyone to not only feel included in Minecraft, but also to see themselves in what we make. Our goal is for the Mojang Studios team to be as diverse as our community.
Join Minecraft's Franchise Expansion Marketing team and help shape how one of the world's most beloved brands connects culture, partners, and players. As Director, In-Game Partnerships & Media Promotions, you will define the strategy, operating model, and marketing frameworks that turn partnerships and promotions into scalable drivers of engagement, audience growth, and franchise impact. You will lead portfolio planning, activation strategy, partnership playbooks, governance models, and measurement systems that enable consistent execution across partners, regions, and franchise moments. Working across Business Development, Product, Creative, and Marketing teams, you will help shape how Minecraft shows up through in-game collaborations and promotional partnerships worldwide. This role is ideal for a strategic leader who excels at building growth engines, scalable ways of working, and high-performing cross-functional partnerships.
In the end, it's the people of Mojang Studios that make this place truly special. When you join, you'll find yourself in the company of incredibly bright, warm, and creative individuals - all united and working toward a single goal. Come help us reach it!
Responsibilities
Lead Partnership Strategy & Portfolio Growth
Define the long-range strategy, portfolio priorities, and growth agenda for Minecraft's In-Game Partnerships & Media Promotions pillar. Identify opportunities that expand audience reach, deepen player engagement, strengthen cultural relevance, and create business value through partnerships, promotions, and in-game experiences. Partner across Franchise Development, Business Development, Product, and Marketing to align investments and priorities against the franchise's long-term growth objectives.
Develop Partnership Frameworks, Playbooks & Marketing Systems
Translate franchise strategy into repeatable frameworks, activation models, messaging principles, and partner marketing playbooks that enable consistent execution across partners, regions, and franchise moments. Establish clear creative guardrails, planning processes, and toolkits that maintain a high Minecraft brand bar while increasing speed and scale. Build systems that empower teams and partners to execute effectively without sacrificing quality or player relevance.
Lead In-Game Activations & Media Promotions
Shape the strategy, positioning, and go-to-market approach for in-game partnership activations, media promotions, and integrated marketing programs. Partner closely with Product, Creative, Marketplace, and Marketing teams to ensure activations are authentic to Minecraft, meaningful to players, and valuable for partners. Guide cross-functional execution from strategic brief through launch, delivering programs that drive engagement, participation, and franchise impact.
Build and Scale the Operating Model
Design and evolve the operating model that enables partnership marketing to operate as a scalable and repeatable growth engine. Establish governance, prioritization frameworks, planning rhythms, briefing standards, and cross-functional ways of working that improve alignment and execution. Develop partner engagement models, agency approaches, and regional enablement mechanisms that increase organizational effectiveness as the portfolio grows.
Establish Measurement, Learning & Growth Optimization
Define the measurement strategy and success metrics used to evaluate partnership activations, media promotions, and long-term portfolio performance. Create learning systems that assess player engagement, audience impact, partner effectiveness, and business outcomes, ensuring insights inform future investments and priorities. Use data, research, and performance trends to continuously strengthen frameworks, playbooks, and activation strategies over time.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • 8+ years work experience at a branding agency or with product marketing, brand building, and/or strategy development
    • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience within gaming, entertainment, media, consumer products, sports, technology, or franchise businesses.
  • Experience developing partner-led growth programs that connect brand, product, and consumer engagement objectives.
  • Experience building new operating models, planning frameworks, or partnership capabilities.
  • 6+ years of people management experience leading and developing teams.
  • Experience leading and developing teams.
  • Experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives across a matrixed organization.
  • Experience developing long-range marketing strategies, campaign frameworks, and go-to-market plans that drive audience engagement and business impact.
  • Business planning, strategic thinking, executive communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience developing measurement frameworks, learning agendas, and performance assessment approaches.
  • Track record of translating cultural and media moments into measurable business impact.
  • Passion for gaming, interactive entertainment, and community-driven brands.
