The Staff Medical & Scientific Affairs Liaison - Infectious Diseases and Microbiology primarily develop and executes on medical and scientific education for the Infectious Disease and Microbiology Disease area. The staff MSL also contributes to important Medical and Scientific initiatives such as fostering KOL relationships, participates in scientific advisory boards, sustaining of scientific and clinical studies and providing field intelligence to internal teams. This is a vital role that serves as a medical liaison between Beckman Coulter Diagnostics and the academic/clinical community, strengthening and supporting advancements in and utilization of Infectious Disease and Microbiology diagnostics. Primary responsibilities include developing and cultivating strong relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and healthcare professionals, identifying unmet needs and scientific gaps in medical research, providing insights into clinical practice paradigms and development and delivery medical and scientific education for Infectious Disease and Microbiology products.

This position reports to the Senior Director, Medical & Scientific Affairs - Infectious Diseases and Microbiology and is part of the Medical & Scientific Affairs organization, a team of medical specialists dedicated to all medical aspects of safe and effective in vitro diagnostics across therapeutic areas.

This role may be fully remote in designated territory, working remotely to cover a global business area. Beckman Coulter has a major site presence in South Florida, Southern California, Hebron Kentucky, and Minneapolis Minnesota, as well as major hubs in Europe and Asia.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Support development and implementation of strategic engagement plans to build relationships with KOLs, Infectious Disease providers and other stakeholders, and medical societies in the Infectious Disease and Microbiology field
  • Support implementation and execution of strategic education and training plans for internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist with execution and maintenance of clinical study and research initiatives
  • Act as a scientific authority and engage in scientific exchange for Infectious Disease and Microbiology, streamlining complex scientific information and delivering medical and scientific education and training to internal and external collaborators
  • Stay current on Infectious Disease and Microbiology clinical practice trends and diagnostic innovation, prepare materials for presentations, and participate in scientific symposia, conferences, and educational programs

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • 9+ years of experience and Bachelor's degree, or 7+ years of experience and a Master's degree, or 4+ years of experience and a doctorate degree. Minimum of 3 or more years of experience in a Medical Affairs/Medical Science Liaison or Clinical Practice preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of clinical and laboratory practice in the testing, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases.
  • Strong understanding of clinical research methodologies, regulatory or laboratory standards guidelines and medical terminology.
  • Proven track record to establish and maintain relationships with KOLs, providers, laboratorians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex scientific concepts to both scientific and non-scientific audiences.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

  • Ability to travel a minimum of 20-25%of the time (domestic and international)

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • 8+ years of domain knowledge of healthcare technologies and clinical practice trends
  • 5+ years' MSL experience working in the medical technology, medical device, or IVD industry in Medical and Scientific or Clinical Affairs roles
  • Advanced Degree: PhD, MPH, PharmD, RN , MHA or similar

The annual salary range for this role is $160,000 - $190,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
