Job description

AdventHealth Medical Group West Florida Division is seeking an Executive Medical Director. The director's medical specialty can be any non-primary care specialties. This leadership role will be 50% administrative and 50% clinical time.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Physician shall provide clinical direction, oversight, and physician leadership to all AdventHealth Medical Group employed specialty practices in West Florida.

As Executive Medical Director, the physician leader provides strategic and clinical leadership that drives measurable improvements in patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and quality performance across the medical group and hospitals. The physician leader collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams to standardize care pathways, implement evidence-based practices, and align physician engagement with organizational goals. In addition to outcomes-focused leadership, the physician leader plays a key role in physician recruitment, onboarding, and staffing optimizationโ€”ensuring the service line is supported by high-quality clinicians and structured to meet both current demand and future growth. The work strengthens clinical excellence while building a sustainable, high-performing care team.

Education

  • Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine
  • Active Florida Medical License
  • Active US Board certification
  • Unrestricted active AdventHealth hospital privileges

Experience

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of medical practice and clinic management, clinic operational structures and systems, policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in managing a health care facility.
  • Leadership experience should include management of staff, budgets, and multiple clinic functions.

Scope Metric This community/specialty-based physician leadership role provides oversight for the clinical and operational performance of the providers and practices in a dyad partnership in their assigned region. This includes developing and implementing the clinical vision for their region, while ensuring AHMG and care management clinical practices/policies are adhered to. Ensures personal actions, and the actions of the providers in their region, comply with all applicable policies, regulations, and laws.
