Job description

Job Summary: Make Kids Love Math through Hands-On Discovery

Are you an expert educator who knows how to transform math anxiety into mathematical joy? At Mi Escuela Montessori, we believe the Montessori method is the original, high-fidelity hands-on STEM curriculum. As we expand into our brand-new, state-of-the-art facility for the 2026–2027 school year, we are hiring a full-time Math & STEM Instructional Coach / Curriculum Specialist who can inspire students to love math, science, and engineering through the power of concrete discovery.

We are seeking a Practitioner-Leader who uses evidence-based Science of Math strategies to build deep conceptual understanding. In this hybrid role, you will split your expertise between two critical areas: delivering direct, small-group Tier 3 math interventions to close achievement gaps, and providing high-level teacher coaching, professional development, and mentorship to our faculty. You will help our classroom Teachers (Guides) master advanced Montessori math materials—bridging the gap between concrete manipulation, abstract mathematical reasoning, and Florida B.E.S.T. Standards.

Key Responsibilities & Duties1. Direct Math Intervention & Student Growth (The Practitioner)
  • Tier 3 Math Support: Design, plan, and execute intensive, evidence-based math interventions and remedial math tutoring for small groups, building core numeracy, operational fluency, and abstract logic.

  • Student Engagement: Differentiate instruction to ignite curiosity, turning abstract geometry, long division, fractions, and pre-algebraic concepts into engaging, low-floor/high-ceiling puzzles that students love to solve.

  • Data-Driven Instruction: Analyze student work, diagnostic assessments, and progress monitoring metrics (including state testing data) to target learning loss and boost student performance.

2. Teacher Coaching, Mentorship & MTSS (The Mentor)
  • Instructional Coaching Cycles: Conduct regular classroom observations, modeling elite math lessons and providing classroom teachers with actionable feedback on material presentations, lesson plans, and STEM integration.

  • MTSS Coordinator (Math): Lead the math component of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) / RTI process, ensuring Tier 2 classroom math interventions are high-fidelity, data-backed, and meticulously documented.

  • Adult Learning & Conflict Management: Navigate pedagogical differences, co-teaching dynamics, and staffing conflicts with a solution-oriented, professional approach, delivering direct feedback to adult learners with professional grace.

3. STEM Integration & Lab School Leadership (The Strategist)
  • Strategic Extended Calendar: Utilize your 10.5-month term to lead end-of-year data audits (post-year) and design immersive, hands-on STEM curriculum workshops for staff "Launch Week" (pre-year).

  • Curriculum Mapping & Alignment: Oversee the alignment of the Montessori "Five Great Lessons" with Florida state science and math standards, ensuring students are primed for high-level scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and state standardized assessments.

  • Lab School Excellence: Model best practices for student engagement and inquiry-based learning in our on-site, MACTE-accredited training center.

Qualifications, Skills, & Experience Required

To optimize your application visibility on Indeed and ZipRecruiter, please ensure your resume highlights the following requirements:

  • Teaching Experience: Minimum of 3 years of successful, high-performing classroom teaching experience (Elementary Teacher, Middle School Math Teacher, or Science Teacher background).

  • Florida Teacher Certification: Valid Florida Professional Educator Certificate (Elementary Education K-6, Middle Grades Mathematics 5–9, or Middle Grades Science 5–9).

  • Leadership Experience: Proven expertise in teacher leadership, peer mentoring, instructional coaching, curriculum development, conflict resolution, or serving as a Grade Level Chair / Department Head.

Preferred Qualifications (High Priority):
  • Montessori Certification: MACTE-accredited Elementary Montessori certification required (Elementary I 6–9 or Elementary I-II 6–12 credential from AMS, AMI, or equivalent) or willingness to obtain

  • Bilingual Fluency: Proficiency in Spanish and English to support our vibrant dual-language immersion environment.

  • STEM Specialization: Advanced training or specialized experience in the Science of Math, structured STEM inquiry models, robotics, coding, or engineering education.

Position Benefits & Perks
  • Financial Reward: A $5,000 compensation stipend stacked directly on top of your placement on the standard teacher salary scale.

  • Brand-New Discovery Lab: Command your own dedicated, high-tech math/science intervention suite and discovery lab in our brand-new Bartow facility.

  • Professional Prestige: Serve as a foundational leader, curriculum designer, and mentor in a highly respected Montessori "Lab School" culture.

  • Work-Life Balance: A sustainable 10.5-month contract that honors your leadership, maximizes your daily rate, and fully preserves your summer break.
