Job description

Senior VDI / M365 Platform Engineer - Onsite position located in Charlotte, NC, Plano, TX and Pennington, NJ. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.
This role will support the design, engineering, and operational management of Microsoft 365 delivered on Omnissa Horizon non-persistent VDI platforms. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring a high-performance, scalable, and user-consistent experience by leveraging Shared Computer Activation (SCA), FSLogix profile management, and App Volumes application delivery aligned to enterprise best practices.
Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement Microsoft 365 deployments in non-persistent VDI environments (Instant Clones / RDS) using best practices for Horizon
  • Configure and optimize Shared Computer Activation (SCA) to support multiple users accessing Office on shared virtual desktops
  • Ensure proper identity integration and SSO alignment for seamless Office activation and user experience
  • Build, maintain, and optimize App-V/App Volumes packages for Microsoft 365 and dependent applications
  • Manage application lifecycle including versioning, testing, and promotion across environments
  • Ensure application compatibility across Omnissa Horizon non-persistent desktop pools
  • Design and support FSLogix Profile Containers to persist user data and Office caches (Outlook, OneDrive, Teams) across sessions
  • Troubleshoot profile mount, container performance, and session reliability issues
  • Engineer and support Omnissa Horizon environments including Instant Clones / non-persistent pools, RDS / published applications, and Gold image lifecycle management
  • Identify and implement improvements to VDI performance, stability, and scalability
  • Analyze trends across incidents and proactively address systemic issues
  • Support incident, problem, and change management processes
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (security, infrastructure, identity)
  • Maintain documentation, standards, and automation for repeatable deployment

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise VDI environments
  • Strong hands-on expertise with Omnissa / VMware Horizon (Instant Clones, RDS, gold images)
  • Strong hands-on expertise with FSLogix profile management
  • Strong hands-on expertise with App Volumes / App-V packaging
  • Deep understanding of Microsoft 365 Apps deployment in VDI environments
  • Experience implementing Shared Computer Activation (SCA) and licensing models
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and Azure AD / Entra ID
  • Strong knowledge of Windows client OS (Windows 10/11)
  • Experience in non-persistent VDI design patterns and user persistence strategies

Desired skills:
  • Experience with SCCM / Intune
  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise VDI (10k+ users)
  • Knowledge of Dynamic Environment Manager (DEM)
  • Scripting/automation experience with PowerShell
  • Familiarity with performance monitoring tools (e.g., ControlUp)
  • Experience aligning VDI solutions with security and compliance requirements
