Normal Work Schedule: 20 hours per week. Monday - Thursday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm on all days when classes or exams are in session.

Under the general supervision of the Learning Commons Director, the Tutoring Services Scheduling Assistant is the primary contact for students arriving in the Learning Commons for a tutoring session, calling to make an appointment, or emailing with paper submissions or questions. This position requires professional work of a confidential nature, independent judgment, initiative, and discretion.
Duties:
  • Answers tutoring services questions face-to-face, on the phone, and through e-mail in an efficient and courteous manner.
  • Assists students in scheduling tutoring sessions and checking in for appointments.
  • Directs tutoring services traffic by leading students to their tutors.
  • Interprets tutoring services policies and procedures to students.
  • Assists the Learning Commons Director, Learning Strategist, and other Learning Commons faculty and staff with project support as needed.
  • Monitors and maintains the physical area of tutoring services and monitors online tutoring referrals via the tutoring email account and early alert system.
  • Supports tutors and serves as a resource for institutional knowledge, policies, procedures, etc.
  • Maintains Scheduler shifts and coordinates with tutors and students when appointments need to be canceled or amended.
  • Enters interactions and appointments and maintains data for improved service delivery.

    • Ability to communicate clearly and in a friendly and positive manner with staff and tutoring customers from diverse ethnic, socioeconomic and academic backgrounds.
    • Excellent customer service skills.

    • Comfortable working with new technology and communicating in an online environment.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and competing priorities in a timely manner.
