Job description

The Global Lean Leader - Master Black Belt serves as the primary strategic authority for advancing lean engineering capabilities across all global engineering organizations, product families, and facilities. This individual will drive the continued evolution, expansion, and long-term sustainability of our enterprise lean transformation roadmap.

This is not a role for a developing continuous improvement practitioner. We are seeking an established Master Black Belt who brings a proven track record of building, mentoring, and advancing LEAN teams within complex global organizations. The successful candidate will inherit an established foundation and immediately step in to upskill our 20 existing LEAN team members, partner directly with global engineering directors, and institutionalize world-class lean systems globally.

Key Responsibilities

Team Development & Mentorship (Primary Focus)

  • Directly mentor, coach, and develop our existing team of 20 LEAN members and Green Belts across global facilities, elevating their technical mastery, project execution, and certification progression.

  • Own and govern the global engineering Green Belt and Black Belt development framework, ensuring continuous capability growth across all global sites.

  • Serve as the senior technical authority and master coach for complex problem-solving, root-cause analyses, and high-impact Kaizen events.

Global Lean Strategy & Executive Leadership

  • Lead the continued evolution and execution of the global engineering lean transformation roadmap, partnering directly with Executive Sponsors, VPs, and Engineering Directors.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across engineered-to-order (ETO) product lines to reduce engineering lead times, eliminate drawing/BOM errors, and streamline technical clarification workflows.

  • Establish bi-weekly governance and executive operating cadences to track program maturity, remove operational roadblocks, and maintain strict accountability across global sites.

Process Standardization & Maturity Assessment

  • Oversee the ongoing deployment of the global Engineering Processes & Procedures initiative, driving the creation and standardization of 280+ identified engineering standards.

  • Lead the deployment of the Engineering Lean Maturity Assessment framework globally, instituting digital daily management systems and tracking progress via actionable executive dashboards.

  • Drive cross-site benchmarking and global best practice sharing to break down organizational silos and foster a high-performance continuous improvement culture.

Qualifications

Required

  • Certified Master Black Belt (MBB) or Lean Master Certification from a recognized credentialing body or top-tier industrial enterprise.

  • 10-15+ Years of Experience leading large-scale enterprise Lean/Six Sigma transformations within global engineering, manufacturing, or complex industrial tech environments.

  • Proven Track Record of Mentoring & Team Development: Demonstrated history of building, coaching, and upskilling LEAN practitioners and cross-functional teams (specifically mentoring Green Belts/Black Belts to certification).

  • Engineered-to-Order (ETO) Expertise: Extensive experience deploying lean methodologies within customized, low-volume/high-complexity engineering and design environments.

  • Senior Executive Presence: Demonstrated ability to influence, coach, and align C-suite, VP, and Plant Director stakeholders.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Operations, or related technical discipline.

  • Willingness and ability to travel globally as required.

Preferred

  • Advanced technical degree (Master of Science or MBA).

  • Direct experience establishing and auditing global Lean Engineering Maturity frameworks.

  • Experience deploying Digital Daily Management Systems and advanced analytics dashboards within global corporate structures.
