Hillels of the Florida Suncoast | Tampa, FL
Hillels of the Florida Suncoast is seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and relationship-driven professional to serve as Program Director at the University of Tampa. This role is responsible for building and sustaining a vibrant, student-centered Jewish community rooted in engagement, leadership development, and meaningful Jewish experiences.
The Program Director will work under the supervision of the Executive Director while maintaining the autonomy to shape and grow Hillel at UTampa. This is an opportunity to build, lead, and elevate Jewish life on campus while gaining hands-on experience across all aspects of Hillel operations.
Core Responsibilities
Student Engagement & Relationship Building
  • Build authentic, one-on-one relationships with Jewish students
  • Actively engage students across campus and create multiple entry points into Jewish life
  • Foster a welcoming, pluralistic environment where all students feel a sense of belonging
  • Ensure consistent outreach and follow-up with students to deepen engagement

Program Development & Execution
  • Plan and execute high-quality, consistent programming including:
    • Weekly Shabbat dinners
    • Holiday experiences (Rosh HaShanah, Yom Kippur, Chanukkah, Passover, etc.)
    • Social, educational, and leadership programs
  • Maintain a structured and forward-looking program calendar
  • Ensure programs are student-informed, well-executed, and aligned with organizational goals

Student Leadership Development
  • Recruit, mentor, and support student leaders
  • Empower students to take ownership of initiatives and community-building
  • Develop leadership pathways for students seeking deeper involvement

Strategic Vision & Campus Presence
  • Develop and implement a compelling vision for Jewish life at UTampa
  • Serve as a visible and active Jewish presence on campus
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with university administrators, faculty, and campus partners
  • Advocate for Jewish students and support a positive campus climate

Community Engagement & Communication
  • Build relationships with parents, alumni, donors, and community stakeholders
  • Represent Hillel within the Tampa Jewish community and on campus
  • Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote programs and increase visibility

Operations & Accountability
  • Manage program budgets and financial tracking
  • Maintain organized systems for scheduling, communication, and execution
  • Collect and track student engagement data
  • Provide regular updates, reports, and highlights to senior leadership

Fundraising & Resource Development
  • Partner with senior leadership to support fundraising efforts
  • Engage donors and community members in Hillel's work
  • Participate in stewardship and cultivation efforts
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in Jewish communal work, campus engagement, or program leadership
  • Strong understanding of Jewish life, traditions, and community
  • Passion for working with college students and supporting their growth
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
