Job Description

As an Architect Sr - ServiceNow & Platform Architecture, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of AEP's enterprise technology landscape. This position combines enterprise architecture, ServiceNow platform leadership, systems engineering, and strategic technology planning to deliver scalable, secure, and resilient solutions that support our business and operational objectives.

What You'll Do:

Essential Job Functions & Tasks

Enterprise Architecture & Solution Design

  • Lead the design of end-to-end technical solutions that align business objectives with enterprise technology strategy.

  • Translate complex business requirements into scalable architecture solutions across:

    • Application Architecture

    • Integration Architecture

    • Data Architecture

    • Security, Availability, Performance, Resiliency, and Maintainability

  • Develop and champion architecture standards, reusable design patterns, and technology roadmaps.

  • Guide both current-state optimization initiatives and future-state transformation efforts across the enterprise.

  • Influence platform, infrastructure, and application strategy through architectural leadership and technical expertise.

ServiceNow Platform & CMDB Architecture

  • Serve as a senior architect and technical leader supporting AEP's enterprise ServiceNow platform and Configuration Management Database (CMDB).

  • Drive platform architecture decisions, technical governance, and long-term roadmap development.

  • Lead:

    • Solution architecture and design reviews

    • Integration architecture across enterprise platforms

    • Technical planning and estimation activities

    • Requirements gathering and solution definition

  • Ensure ServiceNow solutions are scalable, secure, supportable, and aligned with enterprise architecture principles.

  • Evaluate emerging platform capabilities and recommend innovative solutions that enhance business value.

Systems Engineering & Platform Operations

  • Provide hands-on engineering expertise across the ServiceNow ecosystem and supporting technologies.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex platform, performance, and integration challenges.

  • Support critical platform components including:

    • ServiceNow Platform

    • CMDB

    • MID Servers

    • Tomcat Application Servers

    • Java Application Stacks (JVMs & JSWs)

    • Oracle Databases

  • Operate across multiple environments including:

    • Linux

    • Windows

    • AIX

  • Partner with infrastructure, database, application, and cybersecurity teams to ensure high availability, reliability, and operational excellence.

Strategic Leadership & Collaboration

  • Act as a trusted advisor to business and technology leaders on architecture decisions and platform strategy.

  • Collaborate across multiple teams to deliver enterprise-scale solutions that support critical business capabilities.

  • Mentor engineers and technical teams while promoting architecture best practices and engineering excellence.

  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies, architectural approaches, and industry best practices to continuously improve platform capabilities and operational effectiveness.
