Jani-King International | Addison, TX

Expand Jani-King’s Reach. Elevate Education Facility Standards.

Jani-King International is the global leader in commercial cleaning franchising, with over 6,500 franchisees and 120 regional offices worldwide. For more than 55 years, we’ve partnered with top organizations across healthcare, education, hospitality, stadiums, government, retail, and more — delivering professional cleaning services and unmatched customer satisfaction.

We are seeking a strategic, field-savvy Director of Educational Facility Services to serve as Jani-King’s national subject-matter expert for the education sector. This high-visibility role combines business development, proposal leadership, compliance oversight, franchise coaching, and account start-up management — all focused on expanding Jani-King’s presence across K–12 school districts, charter schools, colleges, and universities nationwide.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Educational Facility Services is Jani-King’s primary driver of growth within the education sector. You will identify and pursue new facility services contracts with public and private educational institutions, lead the development of competitive proposals and formal bid responses, conduct facility assessments, and serve as the go-to resource for Unit Franchisees and Regional Offices managing educational accounts.

This is a full-time role based at our Addison, TX corporate headquarters, with domestic travel required to support regional offices, district clients, account start-ups, and industry events. Reports to the Vice President of Operations.

What success looks like: New district contracts are won. Franchise operators are equipped and confident in educational environments. Compliance standards are met consistently. Jani-King is recognized as the preferred facility services partner in the education sector — and you are the reason why.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Development & District Relationship Building

  • New Business Identification: Identify, research, and pursue facility services opportunities with public and private K–12 districts, charter schools, colleges, and universities across assigned territories.
  • Strategic Relationship Building: Build and maintain relationships with district Superintendents, COOs, Facilities Directors, and Purchasing Administrators to position Jani-King as the preferred facility services provider.
  • Industry Visibility: Maintain active presence through state and national school board association conferences, facilities management events, and cooperative purchasing forums.
  • Procurement Tracking: Track district procurement calendars, cooperative purchasing vehicles (TIPS, Omnia Partners, BuyBoard), and RFP release cycles to ensure Jani-King is consistently positioned to compete.

Proposal & Bid Development

  • Bid Leadership: Oversee creation of customized, competitive proposals and formal bid responses for educational facility services contracts, including public RFP submissions and cooperative purchasing applications.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Operations, Marketing, and Finance to ensure bids are comprehensive, cost-effective, and aligned with district requirements and state procurement regulations.
  • Presentation Development: Prepare proposal materials and presentations that clearly reflect Jani-King’s capabilities, compliance standards, and value proposition for educational environments.
  • Regional Bid Support: Assist Regional Offices and Unit Franchisees in preparing and submitting district bid responses, ensuring accuracy and consistency with corporate standards.

Facility Assessments & Scope-of-Work Development

  • Site Assessments: Perform detailed walkthroughs of school campuses and educational facilities to evaluate cleaning needs, square footage, occupancy schedules, and develop accurate service scopes.
  • Operational Alignment: Partner with regional and franchise teams to ensure pricing, staffing models, and supply readiness align with the complexity of educational environments.
  • Special Service Considerations: Identify needs unique to educational facilities including occupied school day protocols, summer deep-clean programs, athletic facility care, and food service area maintenance.

Compliance & Safety Leadership

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all educational facility programs adhere to OSHA, EPA, state health department requirements, and district-specific safety and chemical use policies.
  • Green Cleaning Standards: Stay current on green cleaning mandates, low-VOC product requirements, and indoor air quality standards required by public school districts.
  • Compliance Communications & Audits: Communicate regulatory updates to field teams; support ongoing audits to ensure consistent compliance across all educational accounts.

Training & Franchise Onboarding

  • Education-Specific Training Programs: Design, deliver, and maintain training for Unit Franchisees and frontline staff covering school-specific safety protocols, chemical handling, and age-appropriate facility care.
  • Specialized Protocols: Train on occupied building cleaning, classroom turnaround protocols, gym and locker room sanitation, and cafeteria cleaning requirements.
  • Hands-On Coaching: Provide coaching during account start-ups, client transitions, and high-profile district launches to ensure quality from day one.

Account Start-Ups & Quality Oversight

  • Start-Up Leadership: Lead implementation and onboarding for new educational accounts, coordinating with Regional Offices and Unit Franchisees for seamless transition from proposal to delivery.
  • Primary Corporate Contact: Serve as the primary corporate point of contact for new district accounts during start-up, managing communication between the district, Regional Office, and franchise operations.
  • Quality Control: Conduct periodic inspections, performance reviews, and compliance audits; implement corrective action plans as needed.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Industry Representation

  • Internal Partnerships: Partner with Operations, Marketing, Franchise Support, Finance, and the National Accounts team to align educational sector strategies with broader company goals.
  • Conference & Event Representation: Attend ASBO International, state school board associations, and regional facilities management forums to promote Jani-King’s expertise and expand brand presence.
