Position Summary
This position is responsible for all aspects of the school's academic and operational policies, objectives, initiatives and is responsible for the attainment of short-term and long-term strategic and operational goals. The person should demonstrate expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures and advise and recommend to the School Advisory Board with respect to such activities.
Responsibilities
The School Head serves as the overall leader of the school and is responsible for:
  • Oversee school Academics through direction and delegation to Principal.
  • Building the school culture based on defined core values, policies and procedures that are in-line with the school's vision and mission.
  • Developing, implementing and monitoring long-term goals and strategies to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the school.
  • Develop and foster positive relationships between various stakeholders (Board, Administration, Staff) and leverage effective partnerships with internal and external constituents.
  • Establishing and enforcing policies and procedures that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the school.
  • Providing leadership and support to the administrators and faculty and directing the overall operations and activities.
  • Overseeing and managing the school budget through proper controls throughout the fiscal year to ensure optimal financial results.

Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Educational Leadership/Business Administration and Bachelor's in Education or closely related field.
  • Holds a Principal certificate or the equivalent issued by the TEA or another state.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of leadership and management experience in an Islamic school.
  • Well-versed in Islamic Knowledge.
  • Fluency in English, with Arabic being a plus.

Culture and Values
  • Establishes a positive culture based on Islamic values and manners between all stakeholders.
  • Develops service-based character among the students and staff.
  • Explores/collaborates with other Islamic schools on curriculums and builds strategic alliances.
  • Implements educational strategies to enhance academic achievement and learning objectives.
Planning Activities
  • Develops operational strategies for the entire school and evaluates the efforts to ensure its effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Implements the strategic planning and coordination of the school to advance shared School Board goals, while communicating key messages to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Plan school accreditation related activities and drive the campus development plan.
  • Sets long term goals that become the basis for short term goals and annual operational planning.
  • Establishes and streamlines procedures and processes in relation to school operations.

Staffing Activities
  • Overseas, as second-level Supervisor, the teaching staff and directly the Principal and non-teaching staff through direct reporting relationships.

  • Identifies gaps in staffing needs and proposes plans to mitigate them.

  • Assesses actual performance against standards to determine whether the school is on target to reach its goals and takes corrective actions as necessary.
  • Oversees proper controls to ensure that budgets projections are inline and balanced.
  • Establishes and enforces policies and procedures that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the school.
  • Responsible for ensuring a positive financial audit
  • Reviews and makes appropriate adjustments in activities and expenses throughout the fiscal year to ensure optimal financial results.
