Description

Villani Landshapers' Ecological Restoration crew works to create a positive impact on the environment that we have a responsibility to maintain. The primary focus of this position is invasive species management and native species restoration.


To get started in this position, you must have a desire and the stamina to work hands-on in rigorous outdoor environments (the majority of the work week is spent on lake front bluffs). A working knowledge of common Wisconsin plants and some experience with proper pruning and growing techniques is desirable, as well as some familiarity with insect and disease management.


The bulk of the work for this position takes place from April through November. This full-time seasonal position is also eligible for winter hours in our snow removal program.


Responsibilities:

  • Under the direct supervision of a Foreman, perform assigned tasks relating to invasive species and environmental management of one or more job sites on a daily basis.
  • Learn and understand environmental management and restoration strategies
  • Identify and manage invasive and native species in southeastern Wisconsin environments
  • Under direction, implement multidisciplinary tracks of resource management for maintenance of green infrastructure (bioswales, permeable pavers, riparian buffers)
  • Follows all applicable safety rules
  • Properly and safely operates and maintains all equipment used on jobsites on a daily basis
  • Participate in the Villani Landshapers snow removal program during the winter months

Requirements

Requirements:


  • Knowledge of southern Wisconsin plant material
  • Familiarity with identifying and appropriately treating insect and disease damage to plant material
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members
  • Ability to perform outdoor physical labor continually for up to 10 hours a day, in a variety of changing weather conditions
  • Adheres to company policies and procedures
  • Basic plant knowledge
  • Ability to safely and efficiently use equipment such as brush cutters, line trimmers, hedge trimmers, blowers, handsaws, etc.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license with ability to maintain an insurable driving record is HIGHLY PREFERRED
