Job description

Apave America Inc. is currently seeking full-time experienced Rope Access, Industrial Insulation Technicians for call out/travel positions! We offer competitive pay, full benefits, and 401k w/ company match!


General Summary:

The Rope Access, Industrial Insulation Technician is responsible for carrying out standard rope access operations under the direct supervision of an authorized Level 3 rope access supervisor. The technician will use Industrial Rope Access methods and related equipment to access and complete a wide variety of inspection, maintenance and other industrial work tasks while on ropes or in difficult access areas. Technicians must have the ability to perform work that is physically demanding, have good communication skills and the ability to assimilate a large amount of new information. Responsibilities may also include rescue operations, technical reports and administrative tasks. Work hours, locations, shifts and nature of work assignments vary greatly, and travel may be required.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:


  • Maintain a safe, secure and healthy environment by adhering to Company/Customer safety standards and practices and to legal regulations, alerting others regarding potential hazards or concerns.
  • Read blueprints, sketches, building plans and specifications to determine the scope of work; locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required; identify all tools required for tasks.
  • Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks; recognize worksite hazards and notify the rope access supervisor of any unsafe conditions.
  • Inspects and verifies rope access systems and components before use.
  • Follow the Rope Access Supervisor's or the Rope Access Lead Technician's directions.
  • Displays a healthy respect for heights and follows all OSHA, site specific and Apave America Inc. safety procedures.
  • Participates in required training, rope access certification sessions and maintains a working understanding of rope access safe working practices.
  • Works in accordance with Apave America Inc.'s rope access policies and Rope Access Code of Practice.
  • Maintain proficiency at rescue techniques and assist in rescues as directed and in accordance with certification level.
  • May be required to assist other crafts as directed by project supervision.
  • Install, remove, and repair insulation on industrial equipment.
  • Perform any other related tasks as requested by the customer.
  • Assist other crafts while not actively working on insulation project.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Travel to sites as needed.

Required Skills and Experience:


Current SPRAT and/or IRATA Rope Access Level I, II, or III certification required.
NCCER/NCCER Plus certifications in Industrial Insulation will be considered an asset.
Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UTT) certification will be considered an asset.
Valid TWIC card required.
Valid Driver's License and pre-access drug and alcohol testing required.
Pre-employment background checks will be required.


Physical Requirements:


Some operation of hand tools and machinery (e.g. angle grinder, band saw, plasma cutter, polishing wheel, etc.)
Manipulation and/or lifting of heavy or awkward components ( 50 lb.)
Occasional outdoor/site work may be required with exposure to heat, cold, rain, uneven terrain, etc. and restricted access requiring the use of ladders, stairs, or platforms.
