Job description

USSOCOM J3 International (J3I) is seeking a highly skilled and proactive International Senior International Relations Strategy SME. Here you will provide support to plans, coordinates, and execute numerous multilateral events and multinational conferences each year. Due to the significant number and executive-level of these events, support is required for research, planning, staffing, drafting of official correspondence, itinerary development, briefing and read-ahead (RAH) preparation, coordination with multiple offices, commands and countries, and execution of all events. SME will work with personnel at all levels across DOD, with U.S. Embassies, and with partner nations around the globe.
Key Responsibilities
• Research and prepare read-ahead packages (on average up to 4 per month), to include strategic objectives, key themes, and messages, talking points, biographies, previous conference read-outs and other supporting documents, in support of J3 Directorate, and the Command Group international Engagements as required.
• Draft and recommend an international engagement strategy for the Division, Directorate and Command Group (as required) to support and achieve the Command's objectives.
• Provide international relations expertise and advice to the leadership with regards to bi-lateral and multi-lateral international engagements.
• Provide quality assurance as required, expertise and support to the drafting of international correspondence.
• Respond to RFIs from the Division, Directorate and Command Group leadership regarding International Key Leader Engagements.
• Maintain coordination with the J2, J3 and J5 Director's Action Groups regarding situational awareness of command priorities and strategies for engagements.
• Maintain situational awareness and expertise regarding current U.S. policy and strategy for international relations.
• Perform close-out and escort duties as part of the Division's Security Procedure
Requirements
  • Master's degree in international security studies.
  • Recent experience (last 3 years) demonstrating successful development, coordination, & execution of strategic level engagements on a Commander's Action Group at the Combatant Command/4-star level.
  • 1-year recent experience demonstrating successful development, coordination, & execution of strategic level engagements on a Commander's Action Group or Political Advisor at the COCOM/TSOC level.
  • 3 years' experience using analytic and communication skills to prepare staff and coordinate written products and briefings for senior leader (general officer/flag officer/senior executive service level) use.
  • 3 years' recent experience in developing business and communication strategies intended to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Current DoW Top Secret clearance and eligible for SCI access.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previously served at USSOCOM HQ and familiar with USSOCOM Staff functions.
