Multi-Imaging Technologist (MRI /X-Ray/DEXA) 

Location: Woodland Park, NJ 
Department: Diagnostic Imaging 
Reports To: Imaging Manager / Director of Imaging Services 
Position Summary 

The Multi-Imaging Technologist is a licensed diagnostic imaging professional responsible for performing MRI, diagnostic X-ray, and bone densitometry (DEXA) examinations in an outpatient imaging environment. This role requires full MRI competency, including IV contrast administration and MRI safety expertise, in addition to proficiency in radiography and bone densitometry. We are looking for a technologist that delivers high-quality diagnostic images and quantitative results while ensuring patient safety, regulatory compliance, and an exceptional patient experience. 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

MRI Responsibilities 
  • Perform routine and advanced MRI examinations in accordance with established protocols and radiologist directives
  • Conduct comprehensive MRI safety screening, including implant and device verification
  • Prepare, position, and monitor patients to ensure optimal image quality and comfort
  • Administer IV contrast agents as ordered, following all safety, monitoring, and emergency response protocols
  • Identify imaging artifacts and troubleshoot equipment or image quality issues
  • Maintain strict MRI suite safety standards, including Zone management and emergency procedures  
  • MRI Certification Requirement 
  • Accredited Radiologic Technology education
  • ARRT (R)(MR) or ARMRIT
  • Active NJ Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist License
  • Contrast administration training
  • BLS required; ACLS preferred
  • Knowledge of MRI QA processes and safety standard 
X-Ray / Radiography Responsibilities 
  • Perform diagnostic X-ray examinations per physician orders and departmental protocols.
  • Position patients and equipment to achieve diagnostically appropriate images with minimal radiation exposure.
  • Adhere to ALARA principles and radiation safety standards.
  • Perform routine quality control and equipment checks. 
  • X-Ray Certification Requirement 
  • Accredited Radiologic Technology education
  • Active NJ Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist License
  • ARRT certification in Radiography (R) required. 
Bone Densitometry (DEXA) Responsibilities 
  • Perform bone densitometry (DEXA) examinations in accordance with established clinical guidelines and physician orders
  • Accurately position patients and operate densitometry equipment to ensure precise and reproducible measurements.
  • Ensure appropriate patient preparation, education, and comfort during exams.
  • Perform routine quality assurance, calibration, and documentation as required for densitometry services.
  • Recognize artifacts or factors that may impact study accuracy and communicate findings appropriately. 
  • Bone Densitometry Certification Requirement 
  • Active NJ Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist License 
  • Certified Bone Densitometry Technologist (CBDT) through the International Society for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD)  
  • ARRT certification (BD) required. 
(Certifications required at time of hire or obtained within an organization-approved timeframe.) 
Multi-Modality & Operational Support 
  • Perform bone densitometry (DEXA) examinations in accordance with established clinical guidelines and physician order
  • Verify patient identification, exam orders, and relevant clinical history prior to imaging
  • Accurately document procedures and results in PACS, RIS, and the electronic medical record.
  • Communicate effectively with radiologists and clinical leadership regarding protocols, image quality, and exam concerns
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times. 
Required Qualifications 
  • Accredited Radiologic Technology education
  • ARRT certification in Radiography (R) and/or Bone Density (BD) require
  • ARRT certification in MRI (MR) or ARMRIT
  • Active New Jersey state licensure
  • BLS required; ACLS preferred
  • Knowledge of MRI QA processes and safety standards
  • Documented training and demonstrated competency in IV contrast administration, including venipuncture, patient monitoring, recognition of adverse reactions, and emergency response
  • Experience performing MRI, X-ray, and bone densitometry examinations independently or with documented competency validation
  • Prior experience in an outpatient or ambulatory imaging setting (preferred). 
Work Environment & Physical Requirements 
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist patients throughout the workday 
  • Ability to lift or assist patients as required.
  • Manual dexterity to safely operate imaging equipment.
  • Flexibility to work schedules aligned with operational needs. 
Background Check Requirement: Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check, which may include verification of employment history, education, criminal records, and other relevant information as permitted by law
